Its the Jrgen Hermanns turn to do a write-up; here it is!

Todays session took place at the nameless rink by Bernies house in Vancouver. After reading Bernies following response on the Internet (And Lorne I've checked out the rink and it's ok, its relatively similar to the one in Ambleside with a couple of drawbacks (there are open gates - about a metre or so wide at one end of the rink & the side wall has sort of ridges in it) but it should be ok.) everyone was excited to finally play a game with two goalies and we couldnt wait to get goingthat is until we got to this rink, which turned out to be nothing but a dirty school lot with two large nets cemented into the ground. Other great features of this rink included storm drains, no boards what so ever besides a brick wall with ridges, and a 4 foot high fence with holes, as well as broken glass, and slippery gravel. To go back to Bernies assessment of the facility it was simply put, a dump. So dumpy only the Burton Elementary School black top area can compare. Almost all of the players that were in attendance (Lorne, Laird, Joern, Tony and Jerod) were very disappointed with this location. Only Bernie seemed to praise the rink simply because its proximity to his house, which enabled him to gain that desired rest he needed for the System Of A Down concert later on that night. After about 30 minutes of bugging Bernie about the location and having the nerve to compare it to the Ambleside rink, the players realized this would have to do and that there was hockey to be played.
The first game of the day was over before it started. With Lorne and Tony (backed by Laird in goal) facing Joern in goal, Jerod and Bernie (who said he would not play hard at all because he needs as much rest as possible for the concert that night), we all knew who would win this one. Jerod, who was both D and offense couldnt handle the energetic onslaught of Lorne and Tony. This game featured one break away after another, a collision between Lorne and Jerod, a goal scored by Joern on his own goal and some nice work by Lorne avoiding the storm drain and just like that it was 5-0 and just like that we had seen one of the worst goaltending performances ever with Joern finishing with a save percentage of 54.55%. On the flip-side, Laird finished with a shutout.
After the first game, the goalies were switched but the skaters remained the same. While the game was a little closer at 5-3, Lairds save percentage at 50% might be one of the worst ever along with Joerns. The games had no flow, with the ball constantly leaving the playing area. The goalies seemed to have a very hard time getting into the game.
The third game saw Tony strapping on the pads, playing together with Lorne and Jerod against Bernie, Joern and Laird in net. This game seemed to be a little bit more fast paced, with lots of breakaways, and two on ones. At the end however, Lorne and Jerod were too much too handle for Joern, and at best a 50% Bernie, resulting in 5-3 loss and another awful performance by Laird in net at 54.55%. This save percentage however does not do justice to Lairds play. The saves that he did make were of high quality and allowed his team to stay in the game. On most occasions he was hung out to dry.
This was the last game played, with Lorne finishing strong with 8 goals and 6 assists having countless breakaways and playing well with his partners. Rounding out the top three scorers were Tony with 4 goals and 3 assists and Jerod with 3 goals and 2 assists.

SIDE NOTES: Then it camea group of what seemed to be lesbians. Along with their tattoos, short hair, and butch build, came hockey sticks. These ladies were ready to play and the VRH players stayed and joined them for a good old fashioned game of street hockey on feet. A few more guys from around the block joined in and we played 5-5 with at least 2 subs on each team. Lorne in goal on one end, and Laird being peppered by lesbian shots on the other end. Make no mistake, the majority of these females were very good, undoubtedly having played hockey at some point in their lives. Laird was amazing in goal and was praised by the lead lesbian on several occasions. It was a fun game with lots of great playsand a sure first in our oh so interesting hockey careersplaying with a group of lesbians.
After the disappointment of the location settled down, it was overall a great day. Hockey is like pizza, you get a bad one, but it is still pretty good. Always great to hang out with the guys, but please, please, please no more hockey at this location.

Ah, yes, thank you, Joern! Its healthy to broaden your life experiences and get some puck in at the same time.

Useless Stats: As the VRH crew gets more sessions in (this is number four for them), they slowly start to catch up to BUSH in the scoring race. Lorne is now in eighth place, ten points behind Kyle. Laird and Stefan are also in the top ten. The quick scoring and big nets drop Laird to third in season save percentage, although he does become the fifth goalie this year to post a shutout. Laird also ties Chris for fourth in games played and Justin for second in games goaltended. Jerod drops from first to third in PPG while Lorne moves up to second behind Dallas; the same goes for GPG. Jerod leads in APG ahead of Dallas, Lorne and Joern. Jerod is averaging an amazing 10.1 shots per game; Lorne is third at 6.9. Laird maintains a healthy 17.4 saves per game and is first; Joern plummets from second to sixth in that category with a dismal 8 saves in 2 games. Lorne and Jerod are second and third in three-star points. On the all-time front, Bernie is now eight points behind Lee for fourth all-time. Bernie needs 11 games for 500 and Laird needs four for 400. Laird needs one more game in net to become the first to play 200 games in net. He drops into a tie with Seamus for fourth in saves per game. Jerod enters the top 15 in three-star points and moves to 21at in points overall. On the SDF, Lornes dominant scoring performance moves him into firs ahead of Jerod; Lornes SDF score is the third highest ever recorded. Dallass inactivity drops him behind Stefan to fourth. Laird retains his grip on the GDF for the second session. Lets hope those guys back at BUSH can get their acts together and get a session going, or that VRH can get more than three games in at a time. Dont forget the Records and Honours page and see you out on the rink!
