For the first time ever, both leagues of Burton hockey played sessions on the same weekend. They couldnt have been more different. While VRH got in nine games in a marathon session, BUSH slugged it out through a massive downpour at the end of Burton May Days to hash out the wettest session John McCormack Park has ever seen. Heres Lee to tell you about it.

Well, unlike VRH in Vancouver, it rained in Burton. It rained in buckets, it rained in sheets, and we played Burton hockey. Unanimously voted the WETTEST session in history, it was a naval war from the moment we dropped the puck. A hard fought battle between two highly skilled and even teams, it was great end to end hard working hockey. With passing unpredictable, and man on man defense tight, battles in the corner became crucial and exhausting, often resulting in waves of water splashing over your knees, and into your opponents (and goalies) faces. Make no mistake, despite the statistics, the goalies played well. Chances were few but quality, and with the kind of great plays and goals you'd expect from these players. A gritty session from six of the most decorated players in Burton hockey. I wish we had a camera and had got a picture of the six of us, soaked and steaming after slugging it out at McCormack Memorial.

Series 1: Seamus - Ollie - Nathan vs. Lee - Justin - Chris
Game 1: 5-2 Lee - Justin - Chris
Justin and Lee got off to a quick start, capitalizing on their chances and going up 3-1. Then it was Chris's turn. Being sorely out worked and out muscled, Ollie and Seamus controlled the played getting chance after chance but unable to beat Chris. Finally Lee and Justin got their second wind and finished the series, 5-2.
Game 2: 5-4 Seamus - Ollie - Nathan
At this point we thought, we can't possibly get any wetter, so why not play more hockey. And so began Game 2, which was a war. Trading goal for goal, it was all about who wanted it more. A physical, gritty game filled with net drives and puck battles, Seamus and Ollie triumphed 5-4.
Game 3: 5-2 Lee - Justin - Chris
The rubber match. The game was more even than the score suggests. A tight, contested battle every inch of the way, Seamus - Ollie - Nathan ultimately couldn't contain the offense of Justin and Lee, and a flurry of quick, pretty goals ended a hardcore session.
No assists for either Nathan or Chris. Three games played for everybody. Thanks Kyle!.

Thank you, Lee! Well, it was short, exhausting and memorable. BUSH was condensed to its core this day, and the high level of play showed how Burtons best can persevere through the most extreme of conditions. Lee managed ten goals in just three games to take first star with 13 points. Justin made his season debut after returning from Sun Peaks to take second star with eleven points, and Seamus and Oliver each notched nine points to share third. And, unsurprisingly, Seamus once again led in shots. Four sessions into the season, and he is still averaging over ten shots per game. Nuts. The goaltending stats show a once-in-a-lifetime sub-.700 for Nathan, but he can excused in such an odd session. Chris did manage to keep it above .800 to take the day with .804.

Useless Stats: A three-game session from BUSH didnt Stefans scoring lead too badly, as he now leads Lee 117-83, while Seamus moves into fourth for the year in between Lorne and Jason and Oliver goes to seventh ahead of Joern. Lee becomes the second player this season to reach 50 goals. Seamus needs three goals to get to 50. Oliver passes Jason for third in assists. Seamus passes Stefan for the 2006 shot lead, 267-259. Oliver passes Jason for fifth in shots. Chris season save percentage climbs back up to .800. Lee moves into second in three-star points, just five behind Stefan for first. Oliver knocks Lorne out of the top five there. Lee moves into first in PPG and GPG. Oliver moves into second in APG.
On the all-time front, Oliver narrows the all-time scoring lead of Lorne to 953-944. Lee is nineteen points ahead of Bernie for third in all-time scoring while Seamus and Justin become the fifth and sixth players to pass 600 points. Seamus is two points ahead of Justin, 607-605. Lee needs eight assists for 300; he is 15 ahead of Seamus and Justin for fourth. Lee passes 1,600 shots. Seamus passes Stefan for fourth in shots. Nathans quest for the all-time goaltending lead takes a slight hit as he falls two points to .812. Justin moves ahead of Oliver for third in three-star points, 270-265, with Seamus right behind at 260. Justin can now add himself to the list of those who have played in every Burton season. Lee registers his twentieth 10-goal session (his fourth-straight, even though this wasnt even a full session!). Seamus has now played in ten straight sessions, and Lee in five. On the SDF, Jason reigns for a seventh session in a row, but Lee has moved into second and is closing. On the GDF, Nathans lead shrinks over Bron, but he holds for a third ranking in a row. Dont forget those Records and Honours, lets hope its not so wet this time, on either side of the Monashee.
