For the first time this year, no Koth-Kappii were present in Burton as Seamus assembled a session on the fly. To Leeroy:

Now, to Sunday's rather unique session.

A Sunday session spearheaded by Seamus. For the first time in a while I didn't have to organize anything, it was great. However, heading down there Justin, Graeme, and myself were extremely tired and dug deep into the reefer to bolster our resolve. It was to be a short session, and certainly not one of our best, but interesting none the less. A misplaced baseball glove resulted in a brilliant goaltending from Justin... with his hat. Read on.

Series 1: Lee - Graeme - Watsy - Justin vs. Chris - Seamus - KJ
Game 1: 5-2 Team Orr. Brothers Orr vs. Brothers O'Connor. Irish vs. Scottish. Game on. Team O'Connor looked deadly, and came out skating hard and fast, but were simply outmatched. Odd man rushed left Chris out to dry and Lee, Graeme and Watsy had little trouble burying the donut.
Game 2: 5-0 Team Orr. Domination. Equipment problems, lights out goaltending from Justin, and some great play from Graeme and Watsy showed the time for underrating them is over.
Series 2: Lee - Graeme - Justin vs. Seamus - KJ - Watsy - Chris Game 1: 5-2 Team Orr. Switching to a 2 on 2 format, Team O'Connor was once again outmatched. Despite brilliant goaltending from Chris (38 saves in one game) the O'Connors and Watsy had trouble getting quality looks and when they did, the kitchen was closed.

Thanks, Lee. There are definitely some stories here. The Orr brothers were, by proportion, one of the more dominant lines we've ever seen, Lee leading the way at 8-and-5 and Graeme right behind at 4-and-6. Both Orrs averaged over ten shots a game tonight. The next closest scorer? Andrew Watson, with, with four goals on ten shots, registers his first career three-star points. An off session for the O'Connors, to be sure, but they'll be back, we all know that. And hungry, too. The other story is the amazing dominance of Justin Gordon in net this season. It was a later start for him this year, but he has wasted no time in dominating in goal, putting up a shutout and a crazy .886 with a ball hat instead of a glove. Chris was almost overwhelmed by volume but managed to stay steady in goal for .782.

Useless Stats: Lee becomes the first player in Burton Hockey history to record two 200-point seasons and now holds a commanding 56-point lead over Seamus, who is four points ahead of Oliver in third. Graeme moves into seventh in points and is twelve behind Bernie and Lorne in fifth. Graeme passes Mitch for sixth in season goals. Lee is two assists behind Oliver for the season lead. Graeme passes 200 shots for the year. Justin moves into fifth in 2006 saves. Lee now stands alone as the only player in BUSH to have played all 64 games. Seamus falls to fifth in PPG. Lee rises to third in GPG. K.J. and Seamus fall from the top five in GPG. Seamus falls back below nine shots-per-game as Lee inches closer to nine. Justin, with a freaking hat instead of a glove, registers the season's second-best goaltending percentage in a session at .886 and takes his season average to an astounding .849, the second-highest single season mark ever. Only one change on the SDF, but it's a big one as K.J. falls from the top down to fifth and Lee reclaims top spot. Nathan's reign on top of the GDF is over as Chris takes the top spot, but Justin, barring a complete and total collapse, should easily take the top ranking, potentially with the highest GDF ever recorded.

On the all-time front: Seamus needs 20 points for 700. Lee is 14 assists behind Lorne for third all-time. Lee needs 49 shots to reach 2,000. K.J. needs 45 shots for 1,000. Chris needs 128 saves to pass laird for most saves all-time. Justin passes Lyle for fifth in saves and needs just one for 1,200. Justin passes Joern for fifth in games played. Lee needs two games to reach 300. Justin passes Lyle for fifth in games goaltended and ties Joern and Nathan for second in career shutouts. Lee becomes the second player to reach 400 three-star points. Lee passes Joe for fourth in shots-per-game. Lee's 550 shots this year rank sixth in single-season history. No Koth-Kappii tonight mean two big consecutive session streaks end, Bernie's at 18 and Oliver's at 11. Lee's streak goes up to 12. Check out the Records and Honours page before you go.
