It was a Burton onslaught of goodness; the sixth BUSH session in three weeks! Here's Lee to tell you about it:
A furious session filled top to bottom with high caliber hockey players produced one of the fastest most competitive sessions played this year. Nathan and Justin faced off for top spot on the GDF, and the additions of Dallas Sinclair and Troy Waldron filled out a All-Star roster. Who would come out on top? Read on.
Series 1: Seamus - Dallas - Troy - Justin vs. Lee - Graeme - Oli - KJ
- Nathan
The ice hockey players vs. those who did not play ice hockey. Out of
the gates Team Original Hockey Players cranked up the pace and for 2
minutes it looked like they would dominate. But Team Those Who Did Not
Play Ice Hockey dug down and matched a pace that would not relent for
the rest of the session.
Game 1: 5-3 Team Lee.
Game 2: 5-0 Team Lee.
Game 3: 5-1 Team Lee.
Nathan was brilliant, making one of the best saves of the year on a
Dallas-Seamus 2 on 0. Seamus held it as long as he could, making the
pass to Dallas at the last second who looked like he had a sure goal.
Somehow Nathan fully extends across the crease snatching the puck out
of the air at the goal line. Just one of his many saves on Dallas on the
night. Backed by Nathan's stellar goaltending Lee, KJ and Graeme
provided the offense, and Olli locked down the D, as they ruled the
series 3-0.
Series 2: Lee Seamus Graeme - Dallas Justin vs. KJ Ollie
Troy Nathan
Game 1: 5-3 Team Lee
Game 2: 5-3 Team Lee
Troy showed his offensive touch, notching 4 goals in a losing cause.
The combo of Lee, Seamus and Dallas was overwhelming. Of note, Graeme
sat on the bench for the last 4 goals of the session as they came in
fast and furious. Despite this, he managed 10 points in the session.
Next session we will probably institute a 2 minute timer for
substitutions.
Thanks, Lee. For an unprecedented fifth session in a row, Lee leads the session in scoring with 10G, 8A. K.J. followed in second with 8G, 4A, and Seamus and Graeme tied for third star with ten points each. Dallas had by far the lowest scoring session of his Burton career in 2006 debut, registering a comparatively paltry nine points. Shots were a bit down across the board due to the speed and furious pace of the session. Justin was the victim of this, registering just .724 in net goal today. On the other hand, Nathan continued his amazing play of late, putting up more big numbers with .849 and a shutout.
Useless Stats: Lee is now just three points away from becoming the third player to record 300 points in one Burton season. Seamus passes 200 points for the second time in his career. K.J. needs four points for his second 100-point season; he passes Lorne for seventh in scoring. Nathan moves up to third in save percentage on the year while Justin falls to fourth. Today saw Nathan get his seventh shutout of the year, no one else has more than two. K.J. ties Oliver for fourth in three-star points. Seamus falls to sixth in PPG. No big change on the SDF besides K.J. passing Justin for second. This is Lee' tenth career session on top, and sixth consecutive. Nathan's current GDF rating is .850, the fourth-highest save percentage over ten sessions of all time!
On the all-time front: Justin is now eight points behind Bernie for fifth in points. Graeme passes Robert for 11th in all-time points. Lee needs 18 goals for 500. Seamus needs two goals for 400. Dallas needs one goal for 100. Lee needs 19 assists for 400. Nathan passes K.J. for second in all-time save percentage and Chris for second in all-time saves. Oliver needs five games to become the first player to reach 600 games played. Justin is seven games behind Lorne for fourth. Seamus passes Joern for sixth in games played; Lee is ten games behind Joern. Graeme is four games behind Chris for tenth. Nathan passes 200 games. Lee is 25 three-star points behind Lorne for first all-time. K.J. passes Joe for eighth in three-star points. Dallas falls to third in PPG and fourth in GPG. Lee is 28 points behind Lorne's single-season scoring record and ten shots behind his single-season shooting record. Nathan sets a single-season records for saves, breaking his own record set in 2004. Seamus now has the third-highest single-season three-star point total and shot total. Lee notches his fourth consecutive ten-goal and 15-point session. Dallas' 15-pointer streak ends at six and his 20-pointer streak ends at five. Lee is now tied for the fifth-longest consecutive session streak at 19. Seamus, Graeme, Justin and K.J. have streak of 10, 9, 8 and 5 respectively.
