A record-setting afternoon at Ambleside Park brought to you by Stefan Klopp and the VRH crew. Bernie provides you with the write-up:

Well, finally, VRH got their shit together and got a little hockey going. After fears of rain, it turned out to be a beautiful day with a nice autumn crispness in the air. We had just the numbers for 2-2 full court with 2 goalies. The first series was Stefan and Bernie with Bron in net VS Joern and Tony with Lorne in net. Let's just say Stefan and Bernie completely dominated, clicking in all aspects of the game and coming up with some really nice passing plays; Lorne tried his best in net, but his style of coming way, way, way out of the net caught up with him and he got beat by numerous passing plays. After this series we switched up the goalies thinking this might even it up a bit, but Stefan and Bernie continued to roll and won the series 2-1. After this the teams were switched to Stefan and Tony, and Stefan's team continued the intense play winning the series 2-1; a highlight of the game included Lorne coming up from the goal and going in on a 2 on 0 and making a beautiful pass with his goal stick over to Bernie for the tap in. Overall, a wide open 2-2 session made it difficult for the goalies, although they did make some great saves. Points wise I think this may have been one of my best sessions ever, but in the end Stefan ends up dominating the night scoring 25g and 36p overall, and ties the record for 2nd most points in a session all time.

Thanks, Bern! Wow. Total domination by Stefan in what is easily the highest scoring session of the year, 25G-11A-36P-70S, just four points shy of Robert's all-time session record. Obviously, 36 points and 25 goals are both highs for the year, as well as VRH records. In his seventh season, Bernie finally posts his first 20-pointer (13G-11A-24P-41S), and Tony puts in a career best 13G and 19A to take third star. Lorne takes an understandably anemic victory in goal over the returning Bron, .725-.663, Bron's formerly impressive career averages all but destroyed after this legendary session. Lorne did manage to notch a shutout once Stefan was on his team.

Useless Stats: Stefan's massive outburst takes pretty much all of the gap away between himself and fourth-place Graeme in the scoring race, 181-173. Bernie passes K.J. for sixth, and Lorne ties Mitch for eighth with Joern right behind them; Joern becomes the tenth player this year to reach 100 points. Stefan reaches 100 goals for the first time in his career and is third ahead of Graeme now. Bernie passes 50 goals. Stefan moves into second in season shooting percentage; Tony into fourth. Lorne moves into fourth in games goaltended and ahead of Joern for tops in the V, recording his first shutout of the year. Stefan ties K.J. for fifth in three-star points. Stefan now has the two highest scoring sessions of the season (36, 32); and his 25 goals easily lead the way this year. His 70 shots-on-goal rank third-highest. This week is a good example of how the SDF guards against disproportionate sessions with small numbers of players- Stefan only moves from 21st to 14th on the list. Another session like this of course, and he'll be right with Lee, now in his tenth consecutive session on top. Nathan is atop the GDf again, with Lorne moving up to fourth.

On the all-time front: Bernie passes Justin for fourth in points and becomes the fourth player to reach 700 points. Joern needs 15 points for 500. Stefan becomes the sixth person to reach 300 goals. Bron plummets from the top five in all-time save percentage into the middle of the pack. Lorne passes Justin for fourth in games played. As mentioned above, Stefan's 36 points ties for the second-highest scoring session ever and is easily the highest scoring VRH session ever. His 25 goals rank third. Stefan ties Robert for third in ten-goal sessions. Stefan becomes the second person (after Joe and Robert) to register multiple 20-goal sessions. Stefan records his 11th 20-pointer, fifth all-time. Stefan joins Lorne, Robert and Dallas as the only players in Burton history to have multiple 30-point sessions; both of Stefan's 30-pointers have came this season. This was by far Bernie's highest-scoring session ever; his first time over 20 points in a session. Bernie reaches ten goals in a session for the second time, and Tony his first time. Joern plays his 14th consecutive session, and Stefan his 11th. Check out the Records and Honours page before you go.
