Stefan and Bernie from VRH made their way back to Burton this Thanksgiving weekend to prompt some long overdue BUSH action. Judging by the recent enthusiasm level on the east side of the Monashee, this may be the last BUSH session we see in while. Here's the chronically-injured Lee to tell you about the abrupt session.
A beautiful fall day in Burton with Klopp and Bernie coming in from VRH.
Series 1: Lee - Oli - Watsy - Justin - Seamus vs. Klopp - Bernie - KJ
- Graeme - Brodie
Game 1: 5-2 Team Lee
Game 2: 5-3 Team Stefan
Game 3: 5-1 Team Lee
After 3 games Brodie had to leave and no one else would play goal so
the day ended there. KJ started strong, but suffered a knee tweak
after being taken down by Justin and wasn't the same in the final game.
Team Klopp also sorely missed the presence of Graeme, who was out with
equipment problems and bitterness. Lee and Watsy connected on a burst
of offense that quickly finished the game. Lee played well enough,
still battling his knee injury but happy just to be playing. Seamus
introduced a new super-aggressive style of goaltending, leaving the
crease to trap and retrieve any puck in the corner. It backfired once,
leaving Bernie to bury it in the open net as Seamus tried to dive back
into position.
Thanks, Lee. Lee was on the shelf for almost a month after again wrecking his embattled knee, but made it out to continue to his dominant 2006 season, taking first star with 6G, 2A. K.J. and Justin tied for second at 3G, 4A. Stefan, the dominant force in VRH, was average with five points. Seamus won a tight battle in goal with Brodie as two of Burton's best in goal went head-to-head, .822-.803.
Useless Stats: Lee becomes the first player to score 350 points in a season. Oliver becomes the third player this year to reach 200 points; Stefan is poised to be the fourth. Graeme passes Bernie for fourth in assists. Lee needs eleven shots to reach 1,000 on the year. Graeme needs seven for 500. K.J. needs eight for 300. Justin passes 200 shots. Brodie drops one spot to fifth in save percentage behind Nathan. Seamus needs nine saves for 400. Oliver needs five games for 100 on the season. K.J. passes Oliver for fifth in three-star points. K.J. falls behind Seamus to sixth in GPG. Seamus falls to third in saves-per-game behind Laird. Lee spends his twelfth consecutive session atop the SDF as K.J. moves up to second and Seamus falls to eighth in a session where not a lot of games were played but quality was high. Nathan spends his eighth straight session atop the GDF, but Seamus makes a big jump into second this week and Brodie rises up to fifth as he gets closer to the minimum game divisor of 13.
On the all-time front: Oliver is thirteen points away from 1,100. Justin needs 16 points for 700. Oliver is one goal behind Seamus for third all-time. Lee needs two assists for 400. Seamus passes 1,000 saves. Lee takes back the lead in three-star points from Lorne. Oliver's 129 assists this season is the fifth-highest season total ever. Lee plays his 23rd consecutive session, the third longest streak of all time. Seamus' streak goes to 15, Graeme's to 13, Justin's to 11, and Bernie's to six. Check out the Records and Honours page before you go. Let's see some enthusiasm out there from both leagues!
