Stefan brings us the first session of an amazing Saturday Burton doubleheader.

Again another week of pretty solid and even teams. Also the addition of another Brazilian to the Vancouver fray. Our first game started with a marathon session of no goals. This went on for a good 15-20 minutes before Team ESL started to put them in the net. Once they started they didn't stop, and went on to shut out Team SKB to take the first game. The second game Stefan and Bernie finally were able to solve Bron, and started to take advantage of his 5-hole to take the second game in overtime 5-4. Game 3 saw Bernie and Stefan to continue to roll and take their passing game to a new level, with each pointing out in the 5-3 win. In the final game of the best of 5 series Bernie went on to score all 5 goals in the overtime victory, while Joern perfected his deke scoring all of Team ESL's 4 goals.

After the first series the goalies were traded and a 3 game series was started. Another close game ensued and another overtime victory for Bernie and Stefan with newfound goalie Bron. ESL turned up the heat in the second game of the series walking all over BSB with a decisive 5-1 victory. At this point Pedro was about ready to quit as his feet were killing him in his brand new blades. Eventually he was convinced to play one more short game to 3 to finish the series. Bron earned his second shutout in an easy 3-0 victory for Team BSB to finish off the day.

All in all another great day, fantastic weather, and great to have a new guy in the mix. Pedro the smooth skating hard working Brazilian will hopefully turn into a regular for the Vancouver group.

Thanks, Stef! Wow. This was one of the highest-octane sessions we have seen in VRH. Unholy shot volumes, high scoring (despite two shutouts), and outstanding goaltending. Joern and Stefan battled each other all day and wound up even on 21 points. Joern had a surprisingly high goals-to-assists ratio at 16G-5A on a career-high 79 shots. Stefan amassed 86 shots, a VRH all-time high, scoring 14 goals. Brazilian wunderkind Pedro was extremely impressive in his Ambleside debut, notching 20 points his first time out including a rookie record 11A. Bernie exceeded his standards with 10G and 14 points including scoring all five goals in Game 4. The goaltenders stood on their heads all session. Bron reinforced his status as VRH’s best regular in net, stopping 116 shots with a save percentage of .829. Lorne faced even more shots for a career-high 128 saves and finished with an excellent .821.

Looking for Useless Stats? You’ll find them in the next session’s recap as we had both a VRH and a BUSH session today.
