This, the second part of a Saturday, 21 October doubleheader, is stored on 22 October for computer purposes.

Saturday blossomed into a beautiful day and since Sundays are now reserved for flag football, there was no reason not to play. At 2:15 Seamus and I made the calls, and at 3:00 we rolled out with full complement. Grenier made his 2006 debut, and Seamus laced up the skates to fill out a skilled roster.

Series 1: Lee - Seamus - Ollie - Justin vs. KJ - Kyle - Graeme - Chris
Game 1: 5-0 Team Lee
In a battle of 1980-81 Oldschool vs. the Young Cats it was no contest. Old school dominated with oldschool drop passes and old fashion hard nosed defense. Justin slammed the door on all 9 shots he faced to take home the shutout.

Series 2: Kyle - Graeme - Lee - Chris vs. KJ - Seamus - Ollie - Justin
Game 1: 5-1 Team Seamus
Another lopsided tilt. Kyle's defense was called into question, and with lockdown D from Seamus and Ollie, KJ buried some nice goals. A valiant effort from Chris, but not much he could do.

Series 3: Lee - Seamus - Graeme - Watsy - Chris vs. KJ - Kyle - Ollie - Justin
Game 1: 5-4 Team Kyle
Game 2: 5-4 Team Lee
The goaltending really stepped up a notch this series. Justin made 61 saves on 70 shots, and Chris had 51 on 60. Lee and KJ did the bulk of the scoring for their respective teams, but assists were plentiful. The last game went easily 15 minutes of 4-4 overtime, until it was almost to dark to see. Finally Seamus fed Lee in the slot who buried it over Justin's shoulder.

Thanks, Lee! This session was a four way battle for scoring supremacy, but, really, it was again about the goaltending. The sheer volume of quality goaltending we have seen this year in BUSH really demonstrates the evolution of the games. Justin notches 88 saves in the four games including a shutout for an outstanding .898. Chris was also facing high volumes of shots in the other net, posting a respectable .810. Seamus took the days thanks to his soft hands, chipping in nine assists and fourteen points. Lee was right behind as he led the day in goals with nine and chipping in four helpers. Oliver was his typical defensive stalwart self with three goals and nine assists. K.J. was sniping as always with eight goals and three assists.

Useless Stats: Lee sits on 375 points and is poised to become the first player to reach 400 in a single year. Seamus is 30 points away from 300. Stefan passes 200 points on the year and is just three points behind Oliver for third. Graeme needs 13 points for 200. If Graeme hits 200, that would make five players with 200 points, tying a record set in the inaugural year of 2000. Joern is four points behind Lorne for seventh, with K.J. one point behind him. Oliver is one goal behind Lorne for sixth; both are just behind K.J. The assist battle is as tight as ever with lee leading Oliver by four and Seamus by nineteen. Graeme needs ten assists for 100, and is one assist ahead of Bernie in fourth. Graeme passes 500 shots this year, as does Stefan who passes Oliver for fourth in that category. K.J. and Joern each pass 300 shots. Stefan drops from second to fourth in shooting percentage. Justin moves up two spots to fourth in save percentage. Oliver needs one game for 100 on the year, Bernie three and Graeme six. Lee and Joern remain the only players to have played all of the games within a single league (118 BUSH, 74 VRH). Justin and Bron are tied for third in games goaltended. Lee needs five three-star points for 300. Stefan reaches 100 three-star points on the year. Oliver moves from fourth to second in APG. Lee passes Joern for fifth in APG. Stefan goes back over 7.00 shots-per-game. Chris passes Laird for third in saves-per-game. Stefan’s 86 shots rank third in session highs this year; Joern’s 79 rank fourth. Just two days after Chris posts a .905, Justin posts an .898, the fourth-best session this year and his second-best career session. Lorne’s 128 saves rank fourth-highest this season. Lee stays atop the SDF for a fourteenth consecutive session as Stefan continues to move up the chart and is now in second followed by Dallas and K.J. Seamus jumps from seventh to fifth and Joern from eleventh to seventh. On the GDF, Seamus ends Justin’s reign on top, marking his tenth career topping of the chart. Justin, Bron and Brodie are bunched together in third, fourth and fifth.

On the all-time front: Oliver needs one point to reach 1,100. Seamus becomes the fourth player to pass 800 points. Seamus is three goals ahead of Oliver for third in goals. Lee becomes the third player to pass 400 assists. Lorne is 15 assists away from 400, and Seamus is eleven assists behind him. Lee is 48 shots behind Lorne for the all-time lead. Bernie passes 300 goals. Graeme needs five assists for 200. K.J. needs seven goals for 300. Stefan passes Justin for fifth in shots. Chris passes Nathan for second in saves; he is seven saves from 3,000 and 114 saves behind Laird for first all-time. Justin passes Joern for fourth in saves. Bernie needs six games for 600. Lorne needs three games for 400; Justin needs 15. Chris takes the all-time in games goaltended from Laird. Justin is one shutout behind Laird for second all-time. Bron moves to fifth all-time in shutouts. Oliver ties Justin for fourth in three-star points. Kyle passes Joe for fifth in shots-per-game. Pedro’s 20 points rank fifth-best all-time for a rookie session, and his eleven assists set a new rookie record. His 66 shots are six shy of the record held by Jerod Warren. Seamus now has the fourth-highest scoring season of all time; his 147 goals are third-best in a season all-time. Oliver’s 138 assists are the fourth-best in a single year. Chris becomes the second player to record 1,000 saves in a season. Stefan becomes the fifth player to record 100 three-star points in a year. Stefan has three straight ten-goal sessions. Joern has his second career 15-goal session and fourth straight 15-pointer. Chris ties Laird for most career 80-savers with 20. Lorne posts 110 saves for the first time. Stefan also has four straight 15-pointers and ties Oliver for third in career 20-pointers with 12. Joern has his second career 20-pointer, and Pedro hits 20 in his first try. Stefan has back-to-back 20-pointers in full sessions. Lee plays consecutive session number 25, Seamus 17, Justin 13, Bernie 7, Lorne 5. Don’t forget to check out the Records and Honours page (especially helpful during this glitch-filled transition period to the new site). BUSH is promising weekday sessions during the next little while as long as temperature permits, and VRH plans on playing every weekend. There is a ton of excitement ahead between now and the end of the season. Stay tuned!
