Today was our second session of the year, and was a fantastic one at that. The weather was a bit dismal in the morning; however as the day carried on, so did the clouds break until finally the sun was shining down. Having two dedicated goalies today helped us balance out the teams a bit which made today that much more enjoyable. The teams for the day were essentially Bron, Joern and Stefan vs Laird, Lorne and Ryan, with Bernie bouncing between the teams. The last game of the day was played with the goalies swapped. Nothing major to tell you in terms of the games, they were hard battles. The ball was super bouncy today due to the cold air, which made our game resemble a pinball game rather than a hockey match. Fun nonetheless.

Thanks, Stefan! What a freewheeling session, and considering six games were played, probably the closest-scoring session ever, with all five skaters separated by just four points! Lorne and Stefan put up huge Pavel ratios on the day (15G-3A-65S and 14G-4A-62S) to tie for first star. In his second session, Ryan claims his first star points with 16 points including 11 assists. In goal, Bron returned for his 2008 debut with a stellar 104 saves on 126 shots for .825, while Laird improved a tad on his first session of 2008 with .776. Season Stats: Lorne continues to hold a six point lead over Stefan in overall scoring, 39-33, with Ryan close behind in third and Bernie moving up to fourth. Lorne has a seven-goal lead over Stefan with 28 in just two sessions. Ryan vaults into a big lead in assists. Lorne and Stefan are both over the century mark already in shots, with Ryan not too far behind them. Bron takes over the lead in the major goaltending categories except for total saves, which Laird holds onto. Still not shutouts in the league this year. Lorne leads Stefan 30-25 in three-star points. While no one topped Lorne's 21-pointer from earlier this months, session highs were recorded in goals (Lorne, 16), assists (Ryan, 11), and, of course, shots, with Lorne, Stefan, and Ryan recording the three highest totals of the year. Bron holds all of the goaltending session highs as well. On the all-time front: Lorne becomes the second player to pass 1,100 points. Bernie passes Justin for fifth in all-time scoring. Lorne becomes the first player to reach 700 goals (no one else has even got to 550), and Stefan needs one goal to become the sixth player to hit 400. Stefan passes 2,000 shots and is just 50 behind Seamus for fourth. Laird is 64 saves behind Chris for first all-time; Bron becomes the eight goalie to pass 1,000. Lorne passes Justin for fourth in games played. Joern needs two games for 400. Lorne reaches 600 three-star points, and Stefan is just five back of Justin and Oliver for fourth all-time. Stefan also passes Joe for fifth in shots-per-game. Bernie plays in his 16th consecutive session, Stefan his eleventh, and Joern his sixth. Stefan becomes the first player to record 300 points in VRH; Lorne needs four points to become the second. Laird ties Chris for most 80-save sessions with 21. This is Lorne's twentieth 15-goal session; no one else is even in double digits in that category. Bernie records his tenth 15-pointer, and Ryan his first. SDF/GDF: The combination of an evenly-matched session and a low-scoring BUSH session falling off the ranking from last year moves the O'Connor brothers narrowly ahead of Lorne, as Seamus reclaims the top of the SDF pole. Ryan, reaching his full complement of sessions, vaults into the top 10, and Joern makes a big jump as well. K.J. keeps the lead on the GDF, with Bron's stellar session moving him to third. The VRH juggernaut is gathering steam. Tune in next week for what will hopefully be another exciting session. Don't forget the Records and Honours on the links page.

yeah it was quite excellent. We also played for close to 4 hours as well, which is likely why my back is so damn sore!

Awesome session! That looked like it was intense. I seriously can't recall ever having a full-sized session that was so evenly matched in terms of scoring.
