With no server glitches to speak of and an ultra early (10am) session planned (his bus would only leave in the late in the afternoon), Kloppster was finally able to make his first VRH appearance in over 2 months. Due to an initial estimate of 9-10 players, we decided to go back to the tried, trusted and true Ambleside rink. Ending up with 12 players made things a little crowded (as well as diluting playing time and individual stats a little) but with a sub timer and quick shifts it ended up going pretty smoothly.

Despite the large number of players and very evenly matched goaltending it was a little difficult to find balanced teams. This resulted in only a couple of series and a number of different teams throughout. All teams, combinations, and game scores can be found in the Game Analysis section.

Due to a more than a few lopsided results, games went by rather quickly, and early on it looked like the pace might allow is to get in a pretty hefty number of games. By the time Lorne and Stefan had to leave at 2pm, we had played 10 solid games of 3-on-3 hockey. Unfortunately at this point Joern (groin) and Eric & Ryno (personal reasons) also departed, leaving us with the goalies and 7 skaters. In an attempt to get a few more games in we began a 2-on-2/3-on-2 game; however, it was quickly cut short when Andrew's last couple of wheels blew, effectively ending the session

Overall though, this was another great VRH session with a more than solid turnout. Keep your eyes peeled for a session next weekend and potentially another Mega Session sometime in September.

Thanks, Bern. Another PPG killer on the North Shore as only two skaters even got it up over 2.00 PPG. Tony was easily the leader on the day with 14G-11A on 44 shots. Andrew finished second with 7G-13A on 65 shots, and Jordan, despite missing two games, still notched a star in third with 7G-10A. Joern’s subpar statistics are directly attributable to his pained groin which caused him to miss two games. In goal, Bron led the way with .793 on 111 saves while Dom had a career-worst .739, disastrous by his standards.

Here are the game scores:
Oliver Stefan Bernie Eric Bron def. Andrew Lorne Tony Joern Dom 5-2
Andrew Lorne Tony Ryan Dom def. Oliver Stefan Bernie Eric Bron 5-1
Andrew Lorne Tony Ryan Joern Dom def. Oliver Stefan Bernie Jordan Eric Bron 5-1

Oliver has not missed a session since April 2007, and it pays off as he breaks his own league record for consecutive sessions at 35. Bernie has played 15 in a row. Lorne and Joern are at six in a row. Bron ties Nathan’s 2006 record for most goalie star points in a season.

SDF/GDF: It won’t be finalised until tomorrow’s BUSH session, but let’s just say Tony will like the results; the others, not so much.

The new look BUSH takes to the rink tomorrow night. How will turn out? Come back and find out. Until then, check out ball of the happenin’ statistics on the Records and Honours page in the Links section.
