Once again we had enough people for a large rink so this session was held at Queen-E Park again. Recruiting a stray player (Jason) allowed us to get a game going before our reinforcements arrived. However, soon after, a troop of foot hockey players arrived and kept hassling us for the rink, even though the larger rink was totally empty. After a couple of games and persistent hassling we decided to oblige them and switched rinks. Luckily another straggler (Ken) joined boosting our numbers making it a little more feasible to play on the larger (full hockey size) rink. The game changed dramatically here with an abundance of room, resulting in many more odd-man rushes and shear speed became more of a factor. We attempted 5 on 5 for one game but that seemed a little too crowded and scrambled, so we went back to 4 on 4. Employing one more straggler (Marcus) allowed us to play one final game even after Eric and Jordan left. We had a number of different teams and series throughout, with most games being fairly close minus a couple of exceptions. It should also be noted that the goaltending today was very solid, despite the possibility of relatively poor stats due to the wide open play and full-size NHL regulation nets.

Thanks, Bern. With skaters floating in and out of the session all day, the disjointed feel produced disjointed stats. Lorne absolutely ran away with the entire afternoon, regaining his dominant form of previous years with 15G and 8A in the seven games. You have to go all the way down to 13 points to find second-place Ryno with 7G-6A. The only other player in double digits today was Stefan at 6G-5A. Marcus certainly seemed to leave an impression in his only game. One would have to blame the rink conditions for the goaltending results. Bron takes the day .755-.739 over Dom.

Here are the game scores:
Stefan Lorne Oliver Jason Dom def. Bernie Ryan Eric Jordan Bron 5-4
Stefan Oliver Rob Lorne Ryan Jordan Bron def. Eric Ben Jason Tony Bernie Dom 3-5 5-2 5-1
Lorne Rob Ken Eric Jordan Bron vs. Bernie Ryan Stefan Ben Tony Oliver Dom 5-2 2-5

Lorne passes Troy for ninth in goals and becomes the tenth player to score 100 this year. Lorne needs ten assists for 100. Ryan passes Terryn for 13th. Lorne passes Shem for fifth in games played. Stefan passes Kyle for eighth; Bron passes K.J. for tenth. Ryno becomes the 13th player to play 100 games this year. Lorne records his 43rd ten-goal session, three more than second-place Lee. This is his 23rd 15-goal session; you have to go down all the way to eight to find second (a tie between K.J. and Robert Rogers). Dom’s streak of 80-savers goes to four; Bron’s ends at five. Dom’s streak of 90-savers ends at three; Bron’s at five. Oliver plays consecutive session number 37. Ben’s streak is at 20 (tenth-longest ever), Bernie’s to 17, Lorne’s to eight, Jordan’s and Tony’s to five. Ben becomes the fourth player to score 200 goals in a season; he needs 14 to become the third player to score 200 assists in a single season. Bron needs seven saves this year to become the first goalie to make 1,500 in a season.

SDF/GDF: These are provisional pending a BUSH session result this week. Pat holds for a fifth straight session on top of the SDF. Kyle passes K.J. for second, and Lorne moves up two spots with his win today to fifth. With 38 players now on the ranking, this is the largest SDF ranking in history. Golden Joe holds the GDF for a second week.
