Nathan didn't have school and set about organizing hockey. With 6 regulars, we arrived to some light drizzle, at which point KJ assured us it was "the edge of storm" and not to worry. As sticks were tossed and the first game commenced the rain increased and the court became slick.

Series 1: Lee - Ollie - Kyle vs. KJ - Nathan - Justin
Game 1: 5-2 Team Lee
Game 2: 5-2 Team Lee
In a slower paced game, Lee and Ollie's passing outdueled the KJ Nathan tandem.

Series 2: Lee - KJ - Justin vs. Nathan - Ollie - Kyle
Game 1: 5-4 Team Ollie
Game 2: 5-3 Team Lee
Game 3: 5-2 Team Lee
After being unable to connect on any passes and going down the first game ,Lee and KJ rallied to take the series 2-1.

Series 3: Lee - Ollie - Justin vs. Kyle - KJ - Nathan
Game 1: 5-2 Team Kyle
Game 2: 5-2 Team Lee
Game 3: 5-3 Team Kyle
Kyle and Nathan would switch as goalies in this series, and as Lee forgot one of the helmets, Nathan petitioned to be on Kyle’s team as he didn't have a mask, which made sense. And so, Team Kyle faced off against Team Lee backed by Justin who had ripped his pants in the previous series and had brought two left shoes. Nathan wasted no time getting back to his old form. The court had now dried up and the pace of the game quickened. The series ended on a Justin attempting an ill-advised pass to which Kyle picked on, which caused Justin to make a miraculous diving save, after which he got up, and made a worse pass to Ollie that banked off his own goal to Kyle for the winner. Reminiscent of Noel Ballard’s infamous goal to lose the series last session. But not quite that bad.

A nice return to hockey, good to play with some old regulars. Hopefully the future holds some good 3-on-3 action with July approaching and many vets converging on Nakusp for the summer months.

Thanks, Lee! Sorry I couldn’t be there; I had some family issues to attend to. After a three-week hiatus, BUSH returned with its usual barrage of big numbers, led by Burton’s all-time leading scorer with his second-highest career scoring total ever; 22G-11A-33P on 79 shots. Oliver made his 2010 BUSH debut with a solid 11G-16A-27P; his best session of the season so far. In third and also at the 3.00 PPG mark was K.J. at 14G-10A. Kyle had 12 points in just three games out en route to setting Burton’s new single-season goal scoring record with 374. In goal, Nathan roared loudly in his much-ballyhooed return to net, stopping 57 of 66 shots for an outstanding .864. Kyle and Justin will be disappointed with .779 and .757, respectively.

Season Stats: Kyle focusing on goal for most of the day helps lee narrow the scoring race to 619-571. Nathan passes Pat for third, 325-315, and Oliver leapfrogs Seamus and Stefan into fifth at 262. K.J. ties Bernie and Graeme for tenth at 166. Oliver passes Justin for sixth in goals and breaks 100; K.J. enters the top ten. Nathan becomes the third player to score 200 assists. Oliver is seven assists behind Seamus for fourth. Kyle falls from second to fourth in save percentage behind Seamus and Laird; Nathan moves over .800 for the first time this year. Oliver passes Dom and ties Bernie for fifth in games played at 145. Justin becomes the eleventh player with 100 games this year and enters the top ten in games played; he also moves to sixth in games goaltended. Oliver passes Nathan for fifth in three star points. Lee passes Troy for third in GPG; K.J. passes Mitch Detta for fifth. Kyle falls behind Troy to sixth in APG. Kyle falls from first to fifth in saves-per-game, handing the lead to Seamus.

On the All-Time Front: Lee needs 30 points for 2,300; Oliver needs 16 points for 1,900; K.J. needs 22 points for 1,000. Lee becomes the first player to score 1,200 goals. Oliver is three goals behind Stefan for third; Kyle is 20 goals behind Oliver for fourth. Lee needs 32 shots on goal to reach 6,000 (second-place Oliver just passes 3,800!). Nathan needs 56 shots on goal for 1,000. Kyle falls from third to sixth in save percentage. Nathan becomes the second goalie to make 4,000 saves and is 57 behind Laird for the all-time lead. Justin is four games played behind Joern for seventh all-time and needs another beyond that for 600. K.J. ties Graeme for eleventh; Kyle needs five for 400. Nathan ties Bron for third in games goaltended and is four behind Chris for second. Lee becomes the first player with 1,200 three-star points. Justin is three goalie star points behind Seamus for third. Kyle plummets from the top five in saves-per-game. Lee has nine straight 15-pointers; Nathan’s streak ends at five. Nathan’s streak of 20-pointers also ends at five. Lee’s streak goes to four; K.J.’s to two. Oliver has his third career 25-pointer while Lee has four in a row, just one short of Pat’s all-time record. Nathan’s 25-pointer streak ends at four. Oliver records his tenth career ten-goal session; Lee has six in a row. Lee passes Pat for third in 15-goal sessions with 14; he has three in a row. In fact, Lee has three 20-goal sessions in a row, one behind Kyle’s record. Kyle’s scoring streaks are not affected as he only played three games out today. Nathan’s ten-assister streak ends at four; K.J. has a streak of two. Nathan takes the all-time lead in .810s with 24 ahead of Justin and Seamus, ties Seamus for the lead in .820s with 20, moves into second behind Justin for .830s with 15, is one behind Justin and Shem for the lead in .850s with nine, and takes the all-time lead in .860s away from Justin with nine. Justin posts his third-straight 100-saver and now ranks fifth in that category with twelve. Lee plays his fifth-straight session; Nathan his eighth. Shem’s streak ends at five. Kyle sets a new single-season goal scoring record with 374, breaking Lee’s ’09 mark of 373. Lee’s 288 goals this year rank third. Nathan’s 201 assist rank fifth in a single year.

SDF/GDF: These are still provisional pending a Sunday VRH session. The first day of the DecaSession falls off the ranking this week, taking an insane amount of quality points with it. Kyle couldn’t help but give up the lead, narrowly handing it back to Pat who tops the list for the 46th time. Lee and Tony see their ratings drop but still move up positionally thanks to Justin falling below the session minimum. Sam jumps five spots to fifth and K.J. moves up six spots to eighth. Seamus continues to hold court on the GDF with only Alex in his neighbourhood now that Laird and Bron are falling off. Seamus, however, will be the one to fall below the session minimum next ranking; Alex should then be expected to take pole position for the first time in his young career.

VRH has a session lined up for Sunday. Until next time, check out the Records and Honours pages in the Links section.

Evidently KJ should go back to doing what he does best (ie playing hockey) and leave the amateur meteorological analysis up to someone that knows what they're doing!
