"So Chris Jackins and Sheena Rutko are getting married."
"Where at?"
"Her parents, Paul and Linda's."
"That's across from the rink, can we play hockey?"

Last minute wedding preparations were put on hold Friday night for the game we love. Burton Hockey would not be in the cards for the groom tonight as that would have been bordering on suicidal, but we did manage to get the man wrangled for a few moments for a pre-game ceremonial jersey acceptance. With Chris beaming with the pride of having a freshly minted BUSH jersey on his shoulders, we got to down to it, for a bit... but not very long, again.

Game One of two would have Justin and Bernie with Seamus in net gutting it out 2-on-2 vs. Ollie, Noel and Mitch with Lee in goal. Andrew Watson was getting his blades together so Ollie's team would have to sub. It would prove advantageous to have the sub as a flurry of shots were fired at Seamus in the 2-on-2 portion and they would hold a major advantage in shots to this point. Despite being outshot, Justin buried a hat-trick (all of which were set up by Bernie) that put them up 3-2 when Andrew hit the rink. We moved to 3-on-3 and the cycle of Team Ollie started to take over. Lee made some great stops, and backed by point outs by Noel at 3 goals and 2 assists and Ollie at 1 goal 4 assists, they were just too much winning 5-4.

In Game Two, Justin would pull out and a 3-on-2 game would take place with Bernie being traded for Noel. Ollie was the dominant force today as he added another 2 goals and 2 assists here and despite numerous shut downs by Seamus they'd cruise to a 5-1 victory. The only consolation for the losers was watching Lee's shutout fly out the window when Watty buried one shortside.

Thanks, Seam! Another short-but-sweet session based around but not featuring Chris Jackins for the second weekend in a row sees Oliver dominate quite handily with nine points in the two games. Tying for second star was the unlikely pairing of Bernie and Noel at six points apiece. Both goalies were excellent as Lee posted a career-best .844 in net. Seamus was back to his regular steady self at .821; he out-saved Leeroy 46-27. Also notable was that this was Mitch’s first session since the Christmas session at the Burton Hall way back in 2003!

It’s early Tuesday morning as I write this (naturally, with the events of the weekend, it took a while for these stats to come in), and we’re waiting on the stats from Monday night which we expect at any time, so you’ll find the regular batch of useless stats and analysis with that write-up. Therefore, don’t forget to come back to the site Tuesday afternoon or so for more! We can tell you about the SDF and GDF, however. Pat is on top for a record 50th ranking. With Marcus and Graeme having winning sessions fall off, Thomas moves up to fifth and Stefan up to ninth. If you’re wondering how Noel can fall despite having a second star, it’s because the past two sessions are quite short and are only equivalent to one full session (if they were full length sessions, he’d be up in ninth). Alex holds for a second straight ranking on the GDF, but look who’s in second: Lee Orr! Lee Orr is second on the GDF, just .0067 behind Alex with Seamus dropping narrowly behind to third. See you later tonight with another BUSH boxscore.
