Today started differently than any other VRH session before. For the first time ever there were no ex-BUSH players involved with the session at the beginning. The first 4 games saw Pat, J-Bo, Sam and 2 new players named Andrew Lee and Nickita Dempsyanev play in some Pat-dominated 2-on-2 action. I feel like I’m forgetting someone, but that’s not important… It should be mentioned that Nickita saved (no pun intended) the session today by volunteering to play in net after rookie sensation Al Elischer decided that hockey wasn’t as important as his “to do” list.

Although it started out with no BUSH influence, by the time the 5th game rolled around Rob and the Koth-Kappi had shown up and Andrew Lee had left. So, we went along with some Pat-dominated 3-on-3 action. Eventually J-Bo had to leave as well, leaving us to shift into some partial Pat-dominated 3-on-2 action. I say partial because in Game 12 Team Rob, Bernie and Ollie pulled up a big upset by coming back to defeat Pat and I after being down 4-1; great job, guys! And, in Game 13, they simply dominated and won easily. Despite the last game the whole session could be summed up in 1 word: PatElischerIsJustFreakingRidiculous.

Also, everyone should know Pat has now lost the ability to pass and that was shown in his stats today, putting up 46 goals in 13 games. Although, it should be mentioned that he was trying really hard to set up his teammates as well. As it was demonstrated when he and Ollie were on a 2-on-1 and I was yelling to Nickita that Pat was going to pass to pad his assists. Did he pass? No. He went top corner with authority. Good to see we’re all team players here at VRH!

All in all it was a fun session that didn’t have a shortage of goals and eye-popping saves!

Thanks, Sam, for the lowdown on the most dominant scoring performance ever unleashed in Burton Hockey (and he got the stats into the site on the same day, people! Take a lesson from this man). Truly a shattering performance from the great Pat Elischer; one that will probably not be duplicated unless we can lure Robert Rogers out of exile in Edmonton and line him up against some Atom kids. That might be good for 70. But no one here is touching this unless we rig it. 46 goals on 98 shots for 56 points. Ricky + 2-on-2 + 13 games = statistical death. Put it this way: Sam Lam scored 31 points, a career-best for him by a mile. 30 points is considered the ultimate session benchmark. He was 25 points behind Pat. And got second. (A career high not just in points but in assists as well with 17). As only Pat and Sam skated the whole session, it was late-comers Oliver and Rob who battled for third; Rob edged Ollie with a career session of his own (10-16-26). The goalies were mutilated; their bloated corpses left for dead in the West Vancouver heat. Dom took the day over Nick .695-.609. No one could get into three-digit-save territory today in 13 games. Dom, however, did pick up two shutouts (albeit on 3 and 2 saves, respectively). Only once did a goalie manage more than 15 saves in a game; Nick posted 16 in Game 10).

Here are the game scores:
Sam Pat Nick def. Jordan Andrew Dom 5-2 5-1
Pat Andrew Dom vs. Jordan Sam Nick 5-0 4-5
Jordan Sam Oliver Dom vs. Pat Rob Bernie Nick 5-4 5-4 0-5 3-5
Pat Rob Jordan Nick def. Bernie Sam Oliver Dom 5-2
Pat Oliver Dom def. Sam Bernie Rob Nick 5-3 5-2
Rob Oliver Bernie Dom def. Pat Sam Nick 5-4 5-3

Season Stats: At 684 points on the year, Kyle is just a session or two away from smashing Lee’s all-time season scoring record of 728. Pat becomes the third player this season to score 400 points, a new record. Oliver is six points behind Nathan for fourth. Jordan passes Justin for eighth. Bernie becomes the tenth player with 200 points, and Graeme and Sam aren’t far behind. K.J. got dropped from eleventh to 14th today. Shem needs three points for 100.Oliver is five goal behind Nathan for fifth. Sam passes Justin for seventh in goals; Graeme become the ninth player with 100 on the year. Jordan moves up two spots to twelfth. Oliver is just one assist behind Nathan for third; Seamus needs five assists for 200. Noel needs two assists for 100. Lee moves over 1,500 shots on the year. Pat passes Stefan for third in shots on goal; Oliver passes Nathan for fifth; Sam jumps up to seventh followed by Graeme. Pat now has a massive shooting percentage lead. Troy passes Kyle for third in shooting percentage. Seamus is 113 saves behind Alex for second. Kyle becomes the second player to play 200 games this year. Bernie moves to third followed now by Dom and Oliver. Pat and Sam make it 15 players with 100 games played this season. Dom moves to fifth in shutouts this year with fiver; Chris posts his first. Graeme enters the top ten in three star points. Kyle hits 300 total star points on the year. Pat and Troy falls out of the top five in APG and a replaced by Kyle and Nathan. Pat sets new season session highs, of course, with 56 points and 46 goals. Oliver’s 18 assists tie for fourth-highest in a session this year. Pat’s 98 shots on goal rank fourth-highest this year.

On the All-Time Front: Oliver needs 28 points for 2,000. Seamus is 20 points behind Stefan for fourth. Kyle needs four points for 1,300. Graeme needs one point for 800. Pat becomes the twelfth player to reach 700 and is eleven points behind Joern for eleventh. Rob enters the top 20 with Sam and Jordan on his heels. Oliver ties Kyle in goals and both are five goals behind Stefan for third. Pat passes Graeme to enter the top ten in goals; both cross over 400. Troy crosses over 200 goals and jumps to 16th all-time; Sam is close to the mark as well. Oliver becomes the first player with 1,200 assists. Bernie needs two assists for 700. Graeme needs seven assists for 400. Jordan ties Shem for 16th in assists. Kyle is three shots on goal behind Lorne for fifth. Sam needs 44 shots on goal for 1,000. Pat’s career shooting percentage went up an entire point today; he takes the all-time lead from Robert Rogers and passes over the 30.00% mark. Dom and Seamus are rapidly catching Justin for fifth in saves. Graeme passes K.J. for twelfth in games played. Rob needs six games for 200; Pat seven. Chris picks up his seventh career shutout; Dom his fifth. Seamus is a second star behind Nathan for the all-time goalie star lead; Kyle becomes the fifth player with 700 total star points; Pat retakes the lead in all-time PPG from Robert Rogers. Pat also moves past Robert into second in GPG. Funnily enough, he actually loses the all-time APG lead to Robert. Naturally, Pat’s 56 points and 46 goals are all-time session records, beating his 54/38 mark set back in February. Kyle becomes the fourth player with 50 15-pointers and increases his record streak to 36 sessions. Graeme and Pat each see their 15-pointer streaks go to four. Oliver ties Seamus for fifth in 20-pointers with 22. Kyle’s 20-pointer streak ends at five; Pat’s is at two. Rob breaks 20 points for just the second time; both he and Sam notch their first 25-pointers; Sam takes his first 30-pointer. Pat has consecutive 30-pointers. It goes without saying that pat is the only person in history with multiple 50-pointers. Pat records his 20th ten-goal session. Kyle’s ten-goal steak ends at six; Graeme’s increases to four. Kyle’s record-tying 15-goal and 25-pointer streaks end at five. Pat becomes the first player with ten 20-goal sessions. Kyle passes Stefan for third in ten-assisters with 21. Graeme’s ten-assister streak ends at three; Noel’s and Jordan’s at two. Seamus has four .820s in a row, two away from the all-time record shared by K.J., Justin and Shem. Seamus’ .860 streak does end at two. Bernie plays his 25th consecutive session (sixth-longest streak ever); Lee his 22nd; Dom his 15th; Seamus his tenth; Alex and Marcus have their streaks end at ten. Lee becomes the first player in history with two 1,500-shot seasons. Kyle’s 203 games this season is the fourth-highest mark ever. Kyle ties Lee’s single-season record of 385 three-star points and sets a new total star point record with 400. Seamus ties’ Shem single-season goalie star record of 190 points.

SDF/GDF: Behind perennial leaders Pat and Kyle, there is a lot of change on the SDF. Tony moves up to third ahead of Lee while Oliver jumps to sixth. Rob and Graeme both vault into the top ten. Thomas falls as he is close to dropping off the ranking. Seamus spends his 25th rating on top of the GDF, four away from Justin’s all-time record. Chris moves up to fourth.

BUSH should be ready to go again Tuesday for the Chris Jackins farewell session. Until next time, check out the Records and Honours pages in the Links section.

I think that day was unusual.

Pat, you should give Rob a big pat on the back for being so late (those quick early 2 on 2 games probably let you get over the hump), hahaha.
