This would be a session in which two major events played out. The first was Rob agreeing to play goal in lieu of half court. The second was Ryan showing us how prolific he can be as a scorer. Perhaps it was that his roller team is just hitting playoff form, but Ryan was an absolute force. He had boundless energy, played both ends of the ice, and scored more breakaway and quick shot goals than anyone can count. As for Rob, he fared well for his first time in net. After a shaky start to the session he settled in and found his groove (a lot of the groove included post to post splits in a very Jonathan Quick fashion).

With Ryan at the top of his game it was hard finding balance in the teams, especially at the end when it was Andy and Ryan pitted against the rest. Bernie's broken down seventy two soft wheels didn't help the matter either. As always we conclude that "Boy it felt great to play again", and "That sunshine was sure glorious", oh and perhaps a, "hopefully we can keep this ball rolling". As it looks right now, this weekend could spell another session, with perhaps a return of a certain Czech goalie we all know and love.

Thanks, Stef! Well, the longest streak of any sort in Burton Hockey history is now snapped. Rob Hajdu played the first 487 games of his career without once stepping in goal before finally donning the pads tonight. The new record holder? Why, it’s Ryan Disterheft at 424 games. Andrew Smart is second at 333, and Mitch Detta ranks third at 320. Speaking of Ryno, it was a goalscoring onslaught from everyone’s favourite hockey-playing DJ with 19G in just six games, a new Burton best for the season so far. Throw in 6A, and you’ve got the first VRH 25-pointer of the year by someone not named Smart. Both the 25P and 19G are career highs for one of the all-time great VRH veterans. Ryno played with Tony in the first two series and Andrew in the final series, and it’s no surprise that those two easily took third star and second star, respectively. In goal, Dom shook off a .643 in the first series to climb all the way to .795. Along the way, he set a rather interesting record by recording the first one-shot shutout in Burton Hockey history. As for net debutante Rob, he was victorious in his first-ever series goaltended but came back down to a .609.

Season Stats: With Rob in goal, the time was ripe for Andrew Smart to retake the season scoring lead, 152-138. Ryan passes Oliver, off on his BUSH sojourn for the summer, for third, 112-104. Tony is just four points behind Seamus for fifth, 64-60, with Jordan at 58 and Bernie at 55. Stefan finally breaks into the top ten after his long-awaited return from a cross-continental vacation... Andy opens his goalscoring lead on Rob to 73-63, while Ryan jumps to third at 59 and Tony is knocking on the door of the top five... Andrew also takes back the assist lead from Rob, 79-71; Bernie and Tony are tied with Jordan in seventh at 28... Tony moves from eighth to sixth in shots on goal... Bernie falls out of the top five in shooting percentage... Bernie passes Oliver for third in games played, 46-42, and Ryan is now also at 42... Dom has four shutouts on the year while only one other goalie even has a shutout at all in 2013... Andrew becomes the first player to hit 100 three-star and total star points this year... Ryan ties Seamus for third in three-star points with 45... Ryan passes Tony for fifth in GPG... Andrew falls out of the top five in shots-per-game... With 19 goals today, Ryan ties the 2013 session goalscoring highs set by Andrew and Seamus, but Ryan took a game less to do it... Ryan's 25 points ties for third best on the year.

SDF/GDF: We have a new number one on the SDF. Ryan routing the field was just enough to knock Andrew’s rating down below that of Seamus and Kellan, giving Seamus the number one ranking for the first time since 2008. It’s absurdly tight between the top three... Ryan jumps up four spots to seventh; Stefan falls four to ninth... With Dom backing up instead of moving forward tonight, Bron is able to easily tie Nathan Robson for fourth in GDF rankings led at 26, including the last seven in a row. Justin falls below the session minimum and drops from fourth to eighth, although with a midweek BUSH session promised, Justin has been hinting about a return.

All-Time Session Milestones & Streaks

On the All-Time Front: Bernie becomes the fourth player to score 1,700 points... Andrew becomes the eleventh player to score 1,000 points... Ryno is 12 points behind Pat Elischer for 14th... Ryan needs 14 assists for 400... Tony passes Nathan Robson for 16th in assists... Andy needs seven shots on goal for 2,500... Rob needs seven games for 500... Dom records his 29th career shutout... Ryan becomes the seventh player to score 800 points in VRH; Tony needs 14 more... It’s hard to believe, but it’s the first-ever 25-pointer and 15-goal session from Ryno... Andy records his 40th 15-pointer; he has eight in a row... Andy records his fifth straight ten-assister, two short of the all-time record he share with Kyle Grenier... Rob’s consecutive session streak goes to 19 while Dom’s goes to 10.
