A smaller but just-as-good session emerged on Thursday at McCormack as Robert, Justin and Seamus had the run of the rink. More family action occurred as Kevin Roberts joined the Burton fold in net to battle against Chris. Teams were perfect with eight players making for excellent 3-on-3 action. Justin, Bernie, Seamus and Kevin split the first series with Robert, Karl, Nathan and Chris 1-1. Rob, Seamus, Bernie and Chris beat Justin, Karl, Nathan and Kevin 2-0 in the next series. Seamus, Justin, Nathan and Kevin beat Karl, Robert, Bernie and Chris 2-0 in the next series aided in part by Karl swatting the ball with a nigh stick into his own goal. Rob, Justin, Bernie and Kevin took the last game over Seamus, Chris, Karl and Nathan. Robert led the day with 18 goals and eight assists, but the most amazing stat is that he figured on every single goal his teams scored in the session, a feat only previously accomplished by Jared Macdonald back in 2000 (and this was seven games, not two). Seamus played a solid all-around game and finished 12-10, while Justin lit up Chris for 14 goals and seven assists. Chris posted .778 in net while Kevin debuted with a decent .764 and proved that goaltending runs in the family.

Useless Stats: Robert closes in on Lorne 163-124 in the scoring race while Justin crosses the 100-point mark for the year. Seamus passes this brother for fourth in goals and Robert for second in assists. Kevin debuts with the seasons fourth-best overall save percentage and saves-per-game (his 90 saves ranks fifth all-time for rookies) and Chris moves into third in saves and games goaltended. Roberts 67 shots was the third-highest total of the year. The absence of Lorne allows Bernie and Nathan to pass him in games played for 2004 with 55. I would also be remiss if I didn't point out the Bernie is finally into the top 10 in scoring this year, up to eight place now. On the all-time front, Justin leaps ahead of Laird into fifth all-time on the scoring list and is only ten behind Lee for fourth. He also passes Bernie for fifth in goals and crosses the 200-goal barrier, just nine behind Joe for fourth and eleven behind Lee. Justin also passes the Bernman for fifth in shots as they both cross the 900 barrier. Justin is the sixth player to play 200 Burton games. Robert needs ten points for 300. Bernie sits at 199 goals all-time. Karl passes Jackson for 19th all-time in scoring. Chris passes Justin for sixth in games goaltended. Robert and Justin each mark their 11th ten-goal session (Robert's are all in a row while Justin now has four in a row). It was also Justin's fourth-straight 15-pointer. Robert ties Oliver for second-most 20-pointers with nine; it was his third-straight 25-pointer. Bernie now has the second-longest consecutive session streak in history with 24; Lorne and Laird's streaks of eight and six are snapped.

Burton Cup: With no Lords in action except Chris in net, North Kootenay falcons move ahead of Republic of Ireland and into third with Government Hill close behind. Remember to check all your records and stats by visiting the Records And Honours and Burton Cup pages linked on the site front and prepare yourselves for hockey next week.
