BUSH played a Friday night session in Burton with Bernie coming in from VRH to play a one-off. It was also a historic night at McCormack as Oliver Koth-Kappus became the first player to score 1,000 points in Burton Hockey.

A historic moment in the glorious annals of Burton hockey. The chosen son of Germany has reached a milestone of earth-shattering, some would say epochal, importance. With the very fabric of Burton society threatening to tear itself apart in anticipation, the anointed one stepped to the rink and scored what may well be the most memorable goal in history. Undressing first Ryan, then Seamus, Oli deked Justin to one side, then the other, and with impossible patience went backhand top shelf. To use the parlance of our times, he beat him like a rented mule. Balloons were thrown, cake was brought out, awards were presented. Without further ado, the stats.

Series 1: Seamus, Ryan, Bernie & Justin vs. Lee, Oli, Mitch & Nathan
Game 1: 5-2 Team Lee. A solid whipping. Smelling blood, victory and soft flesh, Oli closed the kitchen and raped the defense. With what little did get through, Nathan swatted away like a cheap Taiwanese hooker, giving Seamus's team little reason to hope.
Game 2: 5-1 - Team Lee. The humiliation of inescapable defeat was ultimately too much for Ryan's spirit to bear. Halfway through he left; a broken man. May he find solace in the breasts of his woman. Assaulted by shots, Justin was phenomenal. At one point making 17 straight saves, both goalies left the offense wondering 'how much chicken can you eat?'. Quite a bit, apparently.
Series 2: Lee, Seamus, Bernie, Justin vs. Oli, Mitch, Watsy & Chris
Game 1: 5-2 - Team Lee. After two stellar performances and a thunderstorm, Nathan called it quits and Chris picked up where he left off. Despite a great performance, high shot volumes from Lee and Seamus (42 in two games) ultimately prevailed.
Game 2: 5-3 - Team Oli. A defensive grinder. Playing a neutral zone trap, the grinding style of Oli, Wats, and Mitch simply wore out the speed and energy of team Lee, limiting quality scoring opportunity's. A session ruled by goalies.

Thanks, Lee. Wow, what a crazy goaltending session. Our three ace goalies averaged .857 in net Friday night. And, yes, Nathan grabs the single-session record for save percentage away from Laird by posting a sick .930 in goal. Chris was also excellent at .846 and Justin posted a 'measly' .830. What a session in net, I say! Out front, Lee led the way again with eight goals and five assists, not to mention 50 shots in the four games. Oliver capped a record-setting night with four goals and eight assists, while Seamus was also over the ten-shots-per-game mark at 42 shots and ten points.

Useless Stats: Lee increases his scoring lead to eighteen points ahead of Seamus, who is now ten points ahead of Stefan in third. Oliver closes to within six points of the Kloppster. Mitch jumps from eleventh to eight in season scoring. Lee needs six goals to reach 100 in a year for the second time. Seamus passes Stefan for second in goals. Bernie passes the 50-assist mark. Lee passes Seamus for the lead in shots as they both pass 400 shots for the year. Oliver is three shots behind Stefan for third and needs 19 shots to reach 300. Justin just gets enough shots in the make him the goaltending leader on the year while Nathan goes back over .810. Chris sitting out the first two games means only Lee and Oliver have played all 52 BUSH games this year. Lee reaches 100 three-star points on the year. Oliver moves into second in APG. Seamus goes back over 9 SPG. Justin is averaging 20.8 saves-per-game after this session. Chris' 772 saves is the third-highest total ever posted in a season, and he could easily make it second next session. Nathan's 712 is fifth. Nathan is the only goalie to have a .900 session this year, Chris' .846 ranks fifth.

On the all-time front: Well, as aforementioned, Oliver becomes the first player in Burton Hockey history to reach 1,000 points. Lorne needs 28 points to reach that mark, and then it will probably another couple of seasons before anyone, most likely Lee, even gets close. Chris needs four more games in net to pass Laird for the lead in all-time games goaltended. Justin needs six to catch Lyle for sixth in that category. Justin passes the 1,000 save mark. Seamus reaches 300 three-star points with Oliver just ten points behind him as he passes Justin for fourth there. Nathan's .930 displaces Laird's .922 as the all-time best goaltending session; he is just the fourth goalie to register a .900 session after Robert, Justin and Laird. Nathan closes in on K.J. for second all-time in goaltending, .815-.812. By sneaking over to BUSH for a one-off session, Bernie's consecutive session streak goes to sixteen. Lee's consecutive session streak goes to ten while Chris, Oliver and Nathan are at nine. On the SDF, Jason's inactivity drops him to fourth and Lorne goes back to the top with Lee and Seamus right behind him. Justin shoots up to fifth. On the GDF, Nathan ties Chris' record of eight consecutive session on top. Will the heat sap another session next week, or will BUSH persevere? Can VRH can get it together and come out of hibernation? Tune in next time to find out. And check out the Records and Honours page while you're at it.
