Bernie continues his tour of duty in BUSH as Burton sees a father and son play on the pavement at the same time in the first mid-week session in quite some time. To Leeroy:
Another evening session, and another 4 games. This session saw the arrival of Karl, the re-establishment of KJ, and the long awaited return of Seamus to goal. How would they fare? Read on.
Series 1: The Orrs and O'Connors vs. The Dettas, the Koth-Kappi,
and Mr. C. "THE GOALTENDER" Jackins.
Game 1: 5-3 Orr O'Connor
Game 2: 5-4 Detta Koth
Game 3: 5-3 Orr O'Connor
Series 2: Bernie - Mitch - Graeme - Lee - Chris vs. Oli - KJ - Karl -
Seamus
Game 1: 5-1 Team Oli. Of note, KJ tallied 21 shots and 3 goals in ONE
GAME. That's 3 times the total amount of shots of Team Bernie
combined.
Thanks, Lee. The K.J. - Lee combo was quite potent tonight. They shared first star honours with thirteen points each. K.J. had eight goals and an amazing 46 shots in the four games. Unsurprisingly, Lee led the way in assists with nine. Graeme continues to be one of the more underrated players in Burton as he picks up another third star with five and five. Seamus made one of his occasional ventures into net tonight and showed once again why he is statistically Burton's best between the pipes with a stellar .831. Chris was around his usual pace at .791.
Useless Stats: With Seamus doing a tour of duty in net and Stefan heading off to follow Pearl Jam around the desert in a van, Lee looks to run away with the scoring championship now; his lead over Seamus is now 30 points. Oliver passes Stefan for third in scoring and is nine behind Seamus. Bernie is seven points behind Lorne for fifth. Graeme is five points behind Jason for seventh with Mitch just a point behind him. Lee needs two goals to hit 100 for the year. Oliver needs two goals to reach 50. Oliver's lead in assists shrinks to eight over Lee. Lee's 115 three-star points are the second-highest total ever in a single year. Lee moves into fifth in APG. K.J. moves to fourth in shots-per-game.
On the all-time front: Oliver needs four goals for 400; Lee needs five. K.J. needs one shot for 900. Seamus increases his all-time leading save percentage to .819. The Burton crew are happy that he picks his spots in net. Seamus passes the 300 games-played mark; Lee is fourteen away. K.J. ties Simon for 13th in games played. Chris passes Laird for most games goaltended in Burton Hockey with 207. Seamus moves into fifth in all-time saves-per-game. Chris' 844 save sthis year is the second-highest season total ever. Between VRH and BUSH, Bernie has played in 17 consecutive sessions (the eighth longest streak ever). Lee is at eleven, and Chris and Oliver are at ten. Nathan's streak end at nine; this is the first session he has not played in this year. On the SDF, it's been a long, slow climb but Lee is finally on top of the ranking followed by Seamus, Justin, last week's leader Lorne, and K.J. On the GDF, Nathan is on top for his record-setting ninth consecutive session. There are now ten BUSH session on the SDF and GDF compared to just four for VRH, which shows their inactivity as of late; this is quite a change from the beginning of the year. Bernie will be with the BUSH crew for another week so hopefully he'll be able to get some playing time in; he has been part of the impetus for organizing more BUSH sessions, apparently. As for VRH, with the main organizer gone for the next month, hockey is increasingly looking like an autumn proposition. Hopefully they can prove me wrong. Don't forget to scope the Records and Honours page.
