The all-too-long hiatus of VRH ended on the long weekend with half-session action in West Van. Oliver Koth-Kappus from BUSH joined the gang for a one-off as Joern brings you the details:

While West Vancouver police discovered a dead body about 400m away from the rink at Ambleside Park, VRH was witnessing a rise from the dead. After an eternity of not playing goal, everyone was excited to see the Kloppster play in goal.

The first game saw Jason play with Ollie to form a dynamic duo that did not disappoint as they beat the trio of Andrew, Bernie and Joern 5-1, and 5-2. The trio however came back with a 5-1 victory of their own but soon discovered that this little rivalry had ended due to an injury to Jason, who called it quits.

The teams were switched up and so was the goalie. Stefan performed well and Andrew stepped in to make his goaltending debut performing successfully, showing that he can put his money were his mouth is (Andrew likes to trash talk). Stefan and his fresh legs were paired with Bernie and his tiny wheels while Ollie and Joern formed the other team. This match-up proved to be a contest that was exciting but very uneven with Ollie and Joern beating Stefan and Bernie by a score of 5-1 and 5-0 and out-shooting them 25 to 14. Andrew, was making great saves on both ends and recorded a shutout.

As BUSH will have plenty to bitch about this half-court session, it was a happy sight after all this non-playing. It was a nice hot day and a good time. Soon, as the busy summer months will pass and people are less busy, there will be some full court hockey for sure.

Thanks, Hornman! Oliver made the BUSH crew fell happy back in Burton as he took the day with 9G, 9A. Joern showed no rust as was also very good with 7G, 7A; both Joern and Oliver reinforced their reputation as all-around players on this day. Were it not for his injury, Jason could very well have taken first star, nevertheless he notch eleven points in the three games. Andrews debut in net was decently successful, posting .718 with one shutout. Stefans return after six years away from goal was much better than his first stab as he finally broke .700 with .708.

Useless Stats: Oliver reaches 100 assists on the season while Bernie passes Lorne for fifth in scoring and needs one point to reach the century mark. Ollie also jumps up to fourth in goals. Bernie passes Stef for fourth in assists. Stefan needs five shots for 300. Oliver moves into third in three-star points. No big changes on either the SDF or GDF.

On the all-time front: Bernie needs one assist for 400. Joern passes 250 assists. Jason needs 17 points for 100. Oliver passes lee for second in shots and needs ten games for 600. Joern is eight games behind Justin for fifth all-time. Oliver passes 300 three-star points. Oliver moves ahead of Seamus with 16 15-pointers, third all-time. Joern plays in his twelfth consecutive VRH session, and Stefan his ninth. Check out the Records and Honours page before you go. Can VRH keep active? Will BUSH get back in the saddle? Stay tuned
