With my apologies for the delay in posting the session thanks to an excellent vacation, Lee brings you an odd session from McCormack Park:
A seven-person regulars session, in which Nathan played out, Lee made his 2006 goal debut, and Graeme was in full form.
Game 1: Oli Mitch Justin Lee vs. Graeme Nathan Seamus
Score: 5-1 Team Graeme
Two on two with a sub, with Lee in net and Justin coming in halfway
(wheel issues). Graeme dominated, scoring 4 goals and 1 assist and
Seamus making 27 saves on 28 shots. At the other end, Lee doesn't play
great, and loses accordingly.
Game 2: Justin Mitch Seamus vs. Graeme Oli Nathan Lee
Score: 5-3 Team Graeme
A three on two game, using the Lee vs. Seamus factor to balance the
teams. It almost works, but Graeme plays great again. Nathan chips in
with 1 and 1 and Oli kicks the goal drought with 2.
Game 3: Lee Graeme Seamus vs. Oli Justin Mitch Nathan
Score: 5-3 Team Graeme
Lee and Nathan switched and new teams were made. The game started 2 on
3, until it was 3-0 team Oli. The decision was made to move it to 2 on
2, and Lee and Graeme immediately took over, scoring 5 straight goals.
It ended on a beauty in which Graeme circled and circled until he beat
the defense, out-waited Nathan and fed it across the slot to Lee for an
open net.
Game 4: Oli Justin Seamus vs. Lee Graeme Mitch - Nathan
Score: 5-1 Team Graeme
Played two on two with a sub, again it was not close. Any combination
of Lee, Mitch and Graeme controlled the game.
Game 5: Oli Justin Seamus vs. Lee Mitch - Nathan
Score: 5-2 Team Lee
With Graeme out due to equipment issues, Lee and Mitch took control and
made it a 10 minute game. Lee put on a shooting clinic, scoring 4
goals on 6 shots, and 7 on 12 shots in the series. A bittersweet victory though, as again things were lopsided and nobody was happy.
Thanks, Lee! What a wonky session. The two leading scorers didn't even play full sessions in skates (not even close for Lee). Both Orrs notched 14 points to split first star honours. Mitch was first among those who played all five games with nine. The stats in net left something to be desired; Seamus took the day but was well below his standards at .784.
Useless Stats: Lee has now done the impossible: break the once-completely-out-of-reach record for points in a season with 327, besting Lorne's inaugural 2000 effort of 325. Graeme is slowly catching Oliver for third in season scoring. Mitch needs one point to become the seventh player this year to hit the century mark (eleven players did so in 2000). Lee breaks 200 goals on the season. Oliver is two goals behind Stefan for fourth. Justin passes 50 assists on the year. Lee passes 900 shots on the year. Seamus drops behind Justin to third in save percentage. Seamus and Lee reach the 100-game plateau on the year. Graeme passes Oliver for third in three-star points. Lee continues to lose in on Jason for the PPG lead. On the SDF, Lee reigns for an eighth consecutive session as Graeme moves up to a career-high third. On the GDF, Seamus added an average session to his ranking, but Nathan replaced a horrible session with a merely sub-par session, allowing Nathan to stay on top another session, just barely ahead of Justin.
On the all-time front: Lee needs seven points for 900. Justin is three points behind Bernie for fifth all-time. Lee becomes the second player to pass 500 goals. Lee is 17 assists behind Bernie for second all-time. Justin passes 1,500 shots. Nathan needs 56 saves for 3,000. Seamus needs 36 saves for 1,000. Oliver becomes the first player to reach 600 games. Justin is five games behind Lorne for fourth all-time. Lee passes Lorne for first all-time in three-star points. Lee becomes the second player to record 200 goals in a season; he is eleven goals behind Lorne's 2000 record of 212. Lee has the fourth-most assists in a singles season, and is the first player to record 900 shots in a season. Graeme records his first ten-goal session. Lee's 15-pointer streak ends at six. Lee plays in his 21st consecutive session, Seamus his 13th, Graeme his 11th, Justin his 10th, and Nathan his fifth. Check out the Records and Honours before you go.
