After a long summer off, VRH is getting into the swing of thing heading into autumn, adding two more players to the growing list of Burton veterans. Here’s Stef to fill you in:

Saturday we had another session, this time featuring 2 new rookies to the fold, Jordan Downey and Shaylin Trotman. Jordan is a former Moose, Orange Menace and Master Blader, while Shaylin is his friend from Paramedics academy. In addition to the two new rookies we managed to get a good crowd out including Lorne, Sam, Griff, Joern, Ryan and Oliver. With our numbers it meant we could play 3 on 3 with 1 team having a sub. Joern and Lorne both played goal today as we were missing our all-star Bron. We played 1 best of 5 series won by the Joern team, then followed with a single game won by the Lorne team. After that point everyone was out of energy. We did one final shootout won by team Joern. Not much more to say other than it was another fun session on what so-far has been a very nice September in Vancouver.

Thanks, Stefan! Burton Hockey now has 99 players in its database. Who will be the 100th player to play the game? Who knows? Right now, at least, we know who the top player in Burton Hockey is, as Stefan takes the day again with 12G-6A-18P-40S. Oliver was just one point behind on 8G-9A. Ryan returns to nab third star with 11G-4A. Sam has a nice Pavel ratio at 8G-1A. It was another lacklustre day in net as Lorne takes the day over Joern .721-.714 thanks to a dominant Game 6 win in which Ryan-Oliver-Griff scored five goals on ten shots against the Hornster.
Here are the game results:
Joern, Oliver, Griff, Stefan def. Lorne, Jordan, Sam, Shaylin, Ryan 5-3 4-5 5-1 4-5 5-3
Lorne, Oliver, Griff, Ryan def. Joern, Jordan, Sam, Stefan 5-1

Season Stats: As Stefan continues to stretch his points lead, Oliver passes the net-platooning Lorne for second. Ryan moves into fourth ahead of the absent Bernie, and Sam moves into sixth. Lorne, Ryan and Ollie are in a tight battle for second in goals while Sam passes Bernie for sixth. Oliver does actually manage to close Stefan’s lead in assists to six. Stefan needs just two shots for 300. Ryan needs 12 for 200. Sam breaks 100 and jumps into fifth in shots. He also moves to fifth in shooting percentage. Joern moves back ahead of Ebony into fifth in save percentage. Lorne passes 200 saves for the year. Joern passed Laird for third in saves. Stefan now becomes the only player to have played in all games this year. Oliver ties Lorne for second in three-star points; Ryan ties Lee for fourth. Oliver’s nine assists tie for fifth-highest in a session this year.

On the all-time front: Stefan passes Justin for sixth on the all-time scoring list and becomes the sixth player to reach 800 career points. He is 26 points behind Bernie for fifth all-time. Oliver needs nine goals for 500. Stefan is 18 goals behind Seamus for fourth. Lorne passes Seamus for third in assists. Joern becomes the fourth goaltender to make 2,000 saves. Joern is two games behind Justin for fifth on the all-time games played list. 41 games have now been played this season without a shutout. Stefan and Oliver become the fourth and fifth player to pass 400 three-star points. Stefan records his 20th ten-goal session and Ryan his first. Oliver ties Seamus for third in 15-pointers with 31; Stefan ties Justin for fifth at 26 (his third consecutive). Bernie’s consecutive session streak ends at 19, tied for the seventh longest streak of all time. Stefan now has the longest active streak at 16, followed by Joern at eleven, Oliver at nine, and Lorne at six.

SDF/GDF: Lorne, Stefan and Oliver remain far ahead of everyone else while Griff jumps up to fifth. On the GDF, K.J.’s inactivity means that his record-tying streak on top is over. Bron now moves to the top of the podium for the second time in his career.

Check out those Records and Honours before you leave. VRH is now in full swing for the autumn.
