After two delays in two days, BUSH played its third session of 2009 today in Burton. Terryn Stenseth became the second player to debut in Burton Hockey today; he may be Burton’s youngest player in quite some time, but his skills in net were already well-known to the McCormack regulars. It may have been a 2-on-2 session, but no one expected the final result. What ensued was nothing short of a shooting gallery. Six games were played in 90 minutes with the volume of shots usually seen in 150. Game 1 saw the usually rock-solid Shem let in the first three shots as Kyle and Lee (with Terryn in goal) double-teamed Troy and Mitch. Mitch was able to bring his team all the way back to 4-4 before Kyle sealed the deal to win it 5-4 for himself, Lee and Terryn. Kyle scored all five of his team's goals in the first game, while Lee managed a lone assist. In Game 2, Kyle and Lee continued their reign of terror; once again, Kyle was in on all five goals as Kyle, Lee and Terryn won 5-3. Kyle notched 32 shots in the first two games. Shem and Terryn could not be blamed for any losses this day; the two goaltenders were on fire for the entire session. The first series was only truly horrid for Lee, whose day was typified in Game 2 by missing an empty net from a foot away on a courtesy pass from Kyle (Terryn had wandered out of the goal). Game 3 saw a changing of the team with Mitch, Lee and Shem taking on Kyle, Troy and Terryn. Kyle and Troy terrorised their opponents in Game 3, winning 5-2; Kyle getting five points and Troy four. Game 4 was more of the same, as Terryn yelled at Mitch over his lack of defence en route to another 5-2 loss. The final series saw Kyle, Mitch and Terryn take on Troy, Lee and Shem. Game 5 finally saw Kyle not get five points in a game, as the back-and-forth tilt ended 5-4 for Troy, Lee and Shem. All agreed Game 6 would be the end, regardless of outcome. Fittingly, Kyle notched another five points to cap an absolutely dominating performance, becoming just the fourth player in history (following Jared, Robert and Justin) to score a point on each one of his team’s goals.

And now the fun part. Kyle had a career session ran away with the day, recording 16-13-29-81 in just six games to take the day. His frequent partner in crime Troy had a career session of his own, finishing second at 8-13-21-60. Mitchell had another huge goal total, finishing with 14-2-16-69 to tie Lee for third (11-5-16-59). With all of those shots in just six games, the save percentages were understandably high. Terryn recorded one of the best rookie goaltending performances ever, stopping 118 shots to finish at .837. Shem has yet to fall below .800 in a session, stopping 105 shots to finish at .802.

Season Stats: By playing eight games to BUSH’s six, and with Lee’s poor start in the first series, Stefan grabs the season scoring lead by a point, 55-54. Mitch moves to fourth behind Oliver, with Kyle leaping into a tie for fifth with K.J. Mitch retakes the goalscoring lead ahead of Lee with Stefan shooting up to third and Kyle in fourth. Stefan widens his assist lead over Lee; Kyle and Troy move into a tie for fourth. Stefan narrowly leads Lee in shots, 176-169, with Mitch not far behind at 154 and Kyle closing in at 124. Rob moves into the lead in shooting percentage, as no BUSH players are even over twenty percent. Terryn debuts ahead of Bron in save percentage with Lorne and Nathan leading Shem for third with the amazingly close percentages of .8103-.8103-.8102! shem leads in saves ahead of Bron and Joern. Ryan, Jordan, Joern, Stefan, Oliver and Bernie have played all 22 VRH games; Lee, Shem and Mitch have played all 17 BUSH games. Shem has goaltended one more game than Bron, who becomes the third goalie this year to post a shutout. Lee has a narrow lead in three-star points over Stefan and Oliver. Kyle ties K.J. for the lead in PPG; Troy moves to fourth and Lorne debuts fifth. Kyle also leads in GPG. Kyle and Troy move to third in APG as Lee falls to fifth, bringing Andrew to second. Kyle goes from third to first in shots-per-game at an unholy 11.27; Lee is literally one shot from averaging ten. Terryn is averaging nearly twenty saves-per-game; Shem moves ahead of Lorne for third. Kyle’s 29 points rank first for sessions this year; Lorne’s 27 are second and Stefan’s 24 tie for third. Lorne’s 17 goals rank first for sessions this year; Stefan and Kyle tie for second at 16; Mitch’s 14 tie for fifth. Kyle and Troy’s 13 assists apiece tie for first this year; Lorne 10 assists tie for fourth. The top four shot totals of the season (Kyle-81, Stefan-75, Mitch-69, Lorne-68) were all recorded today. Bron and Terryn rank one-two in session save percentage. They also ranks one-two in total saves (126-118) with Scott third at 111 and Shem fifth at 105.

On the all-time front: Oliver becomes the first player to reach 1,300 points. Lorne needs nine points for 1,200. Stefan passes Bernie for fifth, and is 31 points behind Seamus for fourth. Joern passes K.J. for eighth in points; he needs eight for 600. Kyle is two points behind Dallas for 15th and needs five for 200. Lee needs 13 goals for 600. Stefan needs twelve goals for 500. Mitch becomes the 16th player to score 100 goals. Oliver needs 15 assists for 800. Bernie needs 13 for 500. Stefan passes Justin for sixth in assists. Lorne needs 79 shots for 3,000. Shem drops behind Nathan to fourth in save percentage. Bron is 51 saves behind Justin for fifth. Oliver becomes the first player to play 700 games, Bernie needs ten to do the same. Joern passes Laird for fourth in games played. Bron becomes the 20th person to play 100 games, Bron is now fifth in all-time shutouts. Stefan passes Oliver for fourth in three-star points and is five behind Seamus for third. Kyle jumps from sixth to fourth in shots-per-game ahead of Lee and Stefan. Shem jumps to third in saves-per-game. Terryn records the sixth-best rookie goaltending performance; his 118 saves rank third all-time for rookies (just four off the record). Scott’s 111 saves rank fourth for rookies. Lorne reaches ten goals for the 40th time; Lee reaches it for the 30th time. Stefan ties Seamus for third with 22. Lee has three straight 10-goal sessions. Kyle records his first 15-goal session. Troy and Kyle record their first ten-assist sessions. Rob records a 15-pointer in his first session. Troy notches his first 15-pointer and 20-pointer. Lee has a streak of at least 3 consecutive 15-pointers for the fourth time. Stefan passes Lee for third in 20-pointers with 17. Bron records his fifth straight 80-save session and eleventh overall (now fourth all-time). Scott and Terryn both hit 110-plus saves in their first sessions. Shem records his first 100-save session. Bron records his third-straight 100-save session, the third-longest streak ever. Stefan plays his 20th consecutive session; Joern his 15th, Oliver his 13th, and Ryan his fifth (Becoming the first non-Arrow Laker to do so).

SDF/GDF: Lorne stays on top for a seventh straight ranking with his big session; he ties Robert with 32 total rankings topped. K.J. remains second, and then major upheaval below with Scott and Stefan moving up to third and fourth, Lee and Oliver dropping to fifth and sixth, and Kyle and Troy making huge leaps to seventh and eighth as they reach the full complement of sessions, which will greatly increase the availability of quality points. On the GDf, Terryn pulls off the rare feat of debuting number one, narrowly ahead of Bron.
