The VRH train keeps on rolling with its 7th straight week of hockey. We had a small session turnout wise compared to previous matches, which led to a bit of an imbalance in teams. It also didn't help that Jason's wheels were slowly turning to rim, and Ryan was feeling pretty hung over. Regardless we got a good 5 games in a solid 3 hours of play. I would have to say if there was a star of the day it was Oliver. His re-aligned sleep schedule must be agreeing with him because he was all over the place. Basically it caused the opposition team to have to often double team Oliver generally leaving Lorne open on the side of the net for a pass. Lorne and Oliver stayed teammates through the 5 games, and showed some solid chemistry.

Anyway game one had Bernie, Ryan, Stefan and Bron against Jason, Lorne, Oliver, and Joern. A pretty sick blowout ending 5-2. To try and even up the teams we proposed trading Ryan for Jason. Unfortunately, Jason, who was flying in game one, had massive skate issues in game two, leaving Stefan as the only mobile player on the team. This led to the easy Joern shutout, and again another attempt to even up the teams. We finally got somewhat even teams for games three through five in which we were able to actually play out a best of three series. This series had Jason, Ryan, Stefan and Joern against Bernie, Lorne, Oliver and Bron. The domination of the Oliver/Lorne connection however was too much for Team Joern, losing the series 3-5, 5-4, 3-5. We ended the day with a shootout, with Team Joern coming out victorious.

Thanks, Stef! It is extremely rare that Lorne ever has an off day on skates, and today was no exception. He scored 16 goals on just 38 shots en route to 20 points. Oliver was close behind with 7G-10A. Ryan takes third star with 7 and 7. Off day in net with Joern defeating Bron .784 to an abnormal .739.
Here are the game results:
Lorne Oliver Jason Joern def. Stefan Bernie Ryan Bron 5-2
Lorne Oliver Ryan Joern def. Stefan Bernie Jason Bron 5-0
Bernie Oliver Lorne Bron def. Jason Ryan Stefan Joern 5-3 4-5 5-3

You can catch the rest of the regular stats recap after the conclusion of Monday's BUSH session; it will be available as part of that session's recap.
