With Bron out and an unresponsive Alex, goaltending once again became an issue for this session. However, Sam saved the day by first getting Nick to come-out, and then when Nick didn't show, by strapping on the pads himself (thereby forfeiting his perfect 1.000 save percentage).

Despite the forecast of rain only 24 hours earlier, the weather could not have been more perfect today. The air was crisp and cool (10 – 12 degress) and the sun was shining in all its magnificent glory; there were even some nice puffy clouds floating around, adding to a nice aesthetic effect.

Initial teams featured the Ollie-Bernie-J-Bo line from the supersession with Dom in net, against Eric, Vince, Rhino, Rob and Sam. The SS line won the series 2-0. Due to prior commitments Vince would leave after this series, maintaining his max games per session at 2. It should be noted though that he potted his first ever VRH goal!

Next, Joern, Rob, J-Bo, Marcus & Sam (G) would take on Ollie, Bernie, Rhino, Eric & Dom (G). These teams were kept for more or less for 4 games, with O-B-R-E-D winning 3 o f the 4 games. In the last game, however, Sam really stepped up his game allowing only 1 goal and getting his first win of the day.

With a certain member of J-Bo-Eric-Bernie-Dom suffering from “white Russian exhaustion”, the last couple of games really were no contest with Marcus- Rob-Ollie-Sam winning easily. The few good chances J-E-B-D did get, Sam was there to shut the door.

Today's session was certainly a little more open and offensively oriented, which was actually a nice change of pace from the last few hyper-intense sessions.

Thanks, Bernie. All, Oliver, all day today, as he pointed-out twice and only had two games where he didn’t score at least three points. He ran away today in Elischer-like fashion with 14G-14A. You’ll go all the way down to 19 points to find Jordan in second with 19P including a massive 15A as he joines Oliver today in the rare feat of putting up a 15-pointer with a point total higher than his shot count. Just one point behind in third was the duo of Eric and Rob. Despite missing the first two games, Marcus almost came back to grab star points with 17P; he would have been almost a lock for second star otherwise. This may surprise you as he has consistently been one of the top scorers in VRH since his arrival, but this was Marcus’s first ten-goal session. Ryan would have had a good shot as well with his scoring pace today. The goalies were victims today, with Dom beating Sam .754-.667 (yes, unfortunately the fabled 1.000 career save percentage for Sam is no more.)

Here are the game scores:
Oliver Jordan Bernie Dom (w/ Joern, game 2) def. Eric Vincent Ryan Rob Sam 5-4 5-3
Bernie Oliver Eric Dom (w/ Ryan, games 3-40 def. Joern Rob Jordan Marcus Sam 5-3 5-3 5-3 1-5
Marcus Rob Oliver Sam def. Jordan Eric Bernie Dom 5-1 5-2

Season Stats: Oliver’s big session today puts him ahead of Pat for third on the year, 521-509. Jordan is just two points behind Seamus for seventh, 369-367. Bernie becomes the ninth player with 300 points this year; Rob is just four away. Marcus crosses 200 points and enters the top 15; Eric moves over 150. Oliver needs just four goals for 200; Jordan becomes the seventh with 150; Marcus needs one for 100. Don’t look now, but Oliver is just 35 assists behind Lee for the lead, 360-325. Jordan passes Stefan for sixth and is twelve behind Nathan for fifth; Rob passes Bernie for eighth. Oliver needs 37 shots on goal for 1,000. In another demonstration of the lack of action from BUSH, the Koth-Kappus brothers have now passed Lee for the lead in games played this season. With Bernie at 256, Oliver at 255, Lee at 254, and Dom at 248, it should go down to the wire. Oliver passes Stefan for fourth in three-star points.

On the All-Time Front: With the continued downtime for BUSH and the continued absence of Stefan Klopp, we are seeing Oliver creep back up the charts in the many of the standings he had been passed in earlier this year. While Oliver is still a ways behind Lee Burton’s all-time scoring lead, he does push the gap below 300 for the first time in over a year. He also moves into second in all-time VRH scoring for the first time, passing Pat, while Bernie becomes the fourth player to score 700 points in VRH. Bernie is 26 points behind Kyle for sixth all-time. Jordan is ten points behind Laird for 15th all-time and eleven behind Mitch Detta for 14th. Ryan passes Troy to enter the top 20 and needs three points for 400. Marcus becomes the 29th player to score 200 points. Oliver takes back third in goals from Stefan. Rob needs 14 goals for 200; Marcus needs one for 100. Jordan is seven assists behind Laird for 14th all-time. Oliver passes Stefan for second in all-time shots. Rob enters the top 15 in shots and Ryan becomes the 18th player to take 1,000 shots on goal. Dom becomes the first person to goaltend 300 games. Oliver ties Stefan for fifth in three-star points and sixth in total star points with 690 each. Oliver becomes the second player with 60 15-pointers (Lee has 93); he also notches his 25th 20-pointer and sixth 25-pointer. Jordan enters the top twelve with 16. Jordan also scores back-to-back 20-pointers for the first time. This was Oliver’s twelfth ten-goal session, Eric’s fifth, and Marcus’ first. Jordan ties Justin for eighth in ten-assisters with 13. Dom has back-to-back 90-savers. Bernie plays consecutive session #36; Oliver is at 18; Eric and Dominik ten. Oliver’s 521 points this season is the fourth-highest scoring season ever. Bernie sets a new record for most games played in a season with 256, deposing Lee’s mark in the continued absence of BUSH action. Oliver sits at 255; Lee 254; Dom 248.

SDF/GDF: Pat holds the SDF for the twentieth straight week as the top six remain the same. The biggest change is Rob falling from seventh to twelfth with Oliver, Sam, Ben, Lee and Graeme each moving up a spot as a result. Over on the GDF, two straight sessions under .780 for Dom hand the lead back to Alex for a fourth time. Joern’s inactivity in goal drops him from fourth to eleventh; only Alex, Dom and Joe are left now above the two-session minimum.

Expect most fantastic VRH action next week! (*cut to scene of tumbleweeds blowing across John McCormack Park, cobwebs attached to hockey nets*) Until next time, check out the Records and Honours pages in the Links section.
