Last week VRH was an intense energy filled event; yesterday has close to the opposite. 7 skaters and a slew of hockey games the night before might have attributed to the collective hangover. Perhaps because of that we were able to get a good 7 games in. Dom and Stew had to deal with constant poor defence and lazy backchecking to keep the games from being complete blowouts; even so, a quote from Bernie after being subbed off for about 2 minutes, "5 goals while I have been sitting off? WTF". At the end of the day it was still hockey, the sun was still glorious, and it was an enjoyable day at Ambleside. What more could a guy ask for?

Thanks, Stef! After some conservative sessions to start this year, this was a return to the Wild West days of yore with six players over the 2.40 PPG mark. Another tight battle for the scoring lead resulted in the eight different session scoring leader in the six sessions this year as Jordan Barlow finished at 8G and a season-best 13A to total 21P, one ahead of Ryan (12G-8A) and Darrel (8A-12G). Oliver (10G-9A), Tony (8G-10A), and Stefan (6G-11A) were very close behind. The victims today were the goalies. After two solid games to start the session, the final five games just saw the goalies get shellacked. Dom would narrowly beat out Stuart, .769-.761 and 93 saves-86 saves.

Game Scores:
Stefan Ryan Jordan Stuart def. Oliver Bernie Tony Darrel Dom 5-2 3-5 5-4
Jordan Darrel Ryan Stuart def. Stefan Bernie Oliver Tony Dom 5-2 2-5 5-3
Jordan Stefan Oliver Dom def. Darrel Tony Ryan Bernie Stuart 5-3

Season Stats: One week after losing the scoring lead to Stefan, Oliver takes it right back – sort of. Oliver and Stefan are now tied at 70 points with Ryan closing the gap slightly behind them at 62 points. Together, the three are pulling away from the rest of the field. You have to go all the way back to 37 points to find fourth-place Tony, whose points haul from just two sessions is pretty impressive. Bernie drops to fifth at 36 points with Jordan and Darrel right on his tail…. Ryan moves into the lead in goals at 34, one ahead of Stefan and three ahead of Oliver… Bernie moves into fourth at 17 while Tony ties Pat for fifth (yes, Pat is still in the top five)… Darrel and Jordan should arrive in the top five in goals shortly… Oliver and Stefan continue to battle for the assists lead, 40-37… Tony jumps up to fourth in assists at 21 with Jordan and Bernie at 19, pushing Andrew from the top ten… Stefan and Ryan are battling for the shots-on-goal lead, 161-155… Tony jumps into fourth in shots with 82… Darrel emerges in second in shooting percentage followed by Ryan, Bernie, and Jordan… Dom nosedives to .810, handing the goaltending lead to Bron at .828; meanwhile, Stuart falls behind Sam to fourth at .773… Dom passes Sam for second in saves with 252, 17 behind Bron for the lead… With Sam’s absence today, only the Koth-Kappi have played all 32 games, and only they, Dom, and Stefan have played in every session… Dom takes the lead in games goaltended with 18, followed by Sam (16), and Bron and Stuart at 15… Ryan ties Stefan for the three-star point lead at 30 with Darrel and Andrew at 25… Dom takes the goalie star point lead over Bron, 35-30… Dom narrowly holds the lead in total star points with 35; Sam, Ryan, Stefan, and Bron all sit at 30 each… Tony falls behind Andrew to third in PPG while Darrel and Ryan sit fourth and fifth… Darrel enters the top five in APG at 1.38… Jordan’s 21 points today is the second-highest scoring session of the season; Darrel and Ryan’s 20 rank third; OIiver’s 19 tie for fifth…Ryan’s 12 goals rank second-best this year and Oliver’s 10 rank third… Jordan’s 13 assists are the top mark so far this year, with Darrel’s 12 ranking second and Stefan’s 11 tying for third… Ryan and Stefan’s 44 shots on goal tie for the second-highest marks this year, while Tony’s 42 rank fifth… Dom’s 93 saves rank fourth this year.

SDF/GDF: It has finally happened – there are no BUSH players left whatsoever on the SDF and GDF. The first-ever all-VRH rankings feature Andrew on top for the 12th straight time and 25th overall, but look at the man now lying second: Darrel Voser has emerged virtually from nowhere to threaten Andrew’s lead. Sam sits right behind Darrel, and Ryan rounds out the group of players with ratings over 100… Jordan re-enters the top ten with his win today… On the GDF, Dom’s off-session today puts Bron back on top of the ranking for the first time since May 2009; his sixth career ranking led. Just five goalies are on the ranking, but four of them (Bron, Dom, Sam, Stuart) are full-time goalies.

On the All-Time Front: Oliver is just 41 points behind Lee for the all-time scoring lead, and looks like he’s only a couple of weeks away from making up a deficit that was over 300 points at one point at the end of 2010… Oliver opens up his all-time VRH scoring over Stefan to 16 points… Bernie needs three points for 1,600… Jordan is three points behind Andrew Smart for 14th all-time and eight points behind Joern for 13th in scoring… Ryan passes Mitchell for 17th in scoring… Tony needs seven goals for 400… Ryan passes Andrew for 15th in goals with Jordan nine goals behind Andrew… Oliver becomes the first player to score 1,600 assists… Stefan is 17 assists behind Seamus for fourth all-time… Jordan passes Andrew for 13th in assists and trails Rob for 12th, 441-429… Ryan needs three assists to become the 18th player with 300… Darrel passes 100 points… Tony needs 29 shots on goal to become the 12th player with 2,000… Dominik needs 111 saves for an astounding 7,500… Jordan is four games behind Rob for 16th in games played… Dom needs four games goaltended to become the first player to goaltend 500 games… Ryan records his tenth career ten-goal session… Jordan ties Lorne for seventh in ten-assisters with 17… Darrel records his first career ten-assister and ties his brother in 15-pointers with four… Can you believe this is just Ryan’s third 20-pointer? It’s also Darrel’s first… Dom becomes the first goalie to net 50 80-savers; Stuart records his first ever… For the second time in his career, Dom plays twenty consecutive sessions; this is the 18th 20-session streak in Burton history… Bernie and Oliver play their tenth consecutive sessions; Sam’s streak ends at nine.
