Well, unfortunately no write-up came with this boxscore, and it’s too bad, because this session made Burton Hockey history as Bron Mach returned to VRH to throw down a .918 in goal, setting an all-time record for goaltending in a VRH session and dethroning Dom Voser's old record of .917 set in 2011. Allowing a mere six goals in four games, it’s just another in a long list of amazing performances thrown down by VRH’s original homegrown goalie over the years. By the way, it’s also his record-tying 12th consecutive .800 session.

Stu had a rough first two games but recovered in the final series to bring his session back up to .787. Offensively, the day was dominated again by 2014’s scoring leader, Darrel Voser, with 11G-6A and 47 shots in just four games. Rob had nine points in the first series, and that helped him to second star with 6G-6A and 42 shots (including 27 in the final two games). Coming in third? Bernie, claiming his first star pints since 2012 with 3G-5A. Also notable here is the return of Albert to the VRH fray for the first time since March 2009.

Big thanks to Vincent Garcia for rescuing the stat sheets from Bernie's hockey bag after it was accidentally left behind in Dom's car all week. Another long-lost VRHer looks to make his return to Ambleside next time out as Shaylin Trotman is on the provisional skater list. See you next time!

Season Stats: Today’s VRH-BUSH doubleheader shook up everything – everything except the name of the man on top of the scoring race, that is, as Darrel Voser increases to his lead over BUSH’s Seamus O’Connor to 83-65. Rob takes advantage of the absent Oliver to move to sole third at 63, with Kellan Nishida now just one point behind Oliver for fourth, 51-50, and Ryan Bateman one point behind Kellan. The rest of the top ten is rounded out by Andy Smart (45), Terryn Stenseth (40), Ryan Disterheft (38), and Bernie Koth-Kappus & Mitch Hascarl (36 each)... Darrel is the first 50-goal scorer of 2014, with Rob way behind in second at 32. Oliver and Kellan are tied at 26 followed by Bates at 23... Seamus is the first 50-assist man of 2014, well ahead of Andy at 36. Darrel is still third at 33, followed by Rob at 31 and Bates at 27... Rob continues to lead Darrel in shots on goal, 227-202, with Ryno now in third at 152 ahead of Seamus (139) and Ollie (134)... Bates plummets out of the shooting percentage lead down to sixth, leaving Neil Spencer in the lead at 29.41%, followed by Darrel, Mitch Detta, K.J. O’Connor, and Mitch Hascarl... It goes without saying that Bron takes the season goaltending lead at .931, followed by Terryn (.877), K.J. (.858), Seamus (.848), and Dom (.829)... K.J. moves into second place in saves behind Dom, 451-320, with Stu moving to fourth behind Sam Lam, 260-226... Dom and Bernie have played in all 29 VRH games this year. Darrel’s only missed two games. Seamus, Kellan, Terryn, and K.J. have played all 24 BUSH games this year... This is the first session the Dom hasn’t goaltended in 2014... K.J. trails Dom in games goaltended, 24-17, while Sam and Stu sit at 14 each... Bron becomes the fourth goalie this year to post a shutout... Darrel leads Rob in three-star points, 55-40... K.J. closes in on Dom for the lead in goalie star points, 50-45... Darrel takes the lead in total star points from brother Dom, 55-50, with Seamus (45), Rob (40), Bates (35), and Sam (35) close behind... Seamus falls behind Andy for the lead in PPG, 3.75-3.53, followed by Darrel (3.19) and Bates (3.13)... Darrel narrowly trails Neil for the GPG lead, 2.00-1.92, while Andrew Likness appears in the top five for the first time at 1.40... Bates passed TOMI for third in APG, 1.60-1.57... Seamus jumps into the top three in shots-per-game, while Darrel moves up to fifth. Rob, meanwhile, is closing in on 10 shots per game... Terryn rockets into the saves-per-game lead at 27.20, followed by Seamus (19.86) and K.J. (18.82)... Darrel’s 11 goals today, along with Andrew Likness’ 11 in BUSH today, tie for third-most amongst 2014 sessions... Seamus’ 11 assists in BUSH today rank fifth-highest this season; he and Andy Smart occupy every position in the top five in that category so far in 2014... The top two shot tallies of the year so far were both recorded in BUSH today by Bates (67) and Seamus (61)... The top three goaltending sessions of 2014 were registered today by Bron (.918), K.J. (.883), and Terryn (.877)... K.J. and Terryn’s 136 saves each today tie for the second-highest session save total of the year... Three of the top four PPS scores of the year were recorded today by K.J. (1019), Terryn (1016), and Bron (983).

SDF/GDF: For the second time in his career, Ryan Bateman is leading the SDF, as a rare third-star performance form Seamus drops him to third behind Andrew Smart. Darrel passes Lee Orr to enter the top five, and today’s BUSH session leader Drew Likness crosses the session minimum and rockets up 22 spots to a career-best seventh. Both Ryno and Nate McInnes took hits today... Following the BUSH session, it was going to take basically the greatest save percentage session in Burton Hockey history to keep him from occupying the top of the GDF this week. Amazingly, Bron was only one goal against from doing so. Instead, K.J. barely hangs on to first, .8579-.8554 over Bron. It's K.J.'s 22nd career ranking led.

All-Time Session Milestones & Streaks

On the All-Time Front: Bernie is 26 points ahead of Seamus for fourth in all-time scoring, 1,753-1,727... Ryan needs 17 points for 900... Darrel records his tenth 15-pointer and fourth ten-goal session... The all-time VRH session goaltending record wasn’t the only record Bron reached today, as he also tied the all-time record for consecutive .800s with 12, tying a record shared by Alex Elischer (2011) and Dom Voser (2012-13)... Bron passes Nathan for third in .800s with 32 and is one behind Dom for second... Bron becomes the third goalie to record 30 .810s; he has 11 .810s in a row which is one short of tying Alex’s record of 12... Bernie’s streak increases to 13 while Darrel’s goes to five.
