Call Sunday the wedding session. It was the continuation of Tony's stag, which featured the to-be-newly-wed playing in a dress. As well, Pat and Alex were a little worn thin from celebrating their brothers wedding the night before. Despite the celebrations, everyone showed up to play, and those who you thought would have lost a step, appeared to step it up. Pat, I think, took the day despite missing the first game. Tony put in a great session despite the hangover, and made a case for wearing a dress every session. Marcus was his usual consistent self, and Rob put in a solid effort. Sam hit a bit of a drought after the 5th game, only to finally break free in the 10th game by pointing out. Pat pointed out games 6-8, then slacked off by only scoring 4 points in game 9. Bernie between every game would goad the opposite team on by saying, "You want redemption, right?" Seeing as he was on the winning team 8 out of 10 games, you can see why he wanted to keep the teams as they were. Personally it was great to finally get out and play hockey, something I had missed for close to 4 weeks.

Thanks, Stef! (There better be photographic evidence of this; everyone enjoys a good fashion shoot!) Another big day for Pat who indeed did take the day at 22G-11A (exactly the same total that led Friday’s BUSH session!). Pulling up in second with a career-best-tying 15G-12A is Tony, followed by a another career best in third from Marcus at 6G-16A. Thanks in part to a 62-shot final game, shot volumes were higher than the ’10 VRH norm, and the save totals reflect that. Dom had perhaps his best performance since his MVP run at the DecaSession in April, stopping 155 of 194 shots for .799 to Alex’s .774 on 144 saves. This session helped dom achieve some major milestones, as you'll read below.

Here are the game scores:
Tony Marcus Bernie Sam Dom Pat* def. Stefan Joern Rob Jordan Alex 4-5 5-1 5-2 5-3 5-4
*no Pat in Game 1
Stefan Pat Marcus Jordan Joern* Bernie Alex def. Rob Tony Jordan Sam Dom 5-4 5-4 5-3 5-2 4-5
*Joern only in Game 6

Season Stats: Pat and Nathan keep swapping positions. Today Pat moves back ahead of Nathan into third, 348-325. Stefan passes Oliver for fifth at 278. Tony passes Sam for 14th and is one behind Rob, 150-149. Marcus is right behind Sam, 144-140. Pat becomes the third player this season with 200 goals; Stefan is the fourth to hit 150; Rob is the latest to hit 50. Pat passes Stefan for sixth in assists; Bernie becomes the ninth to hit 100. Pat and Stefan both surpass 700 shots on goal. Dom sets a new single season save record with 2,064 and the games goaltended record with 145. Bernie and Dom move up to fourth and fifth in games played, putting six players over the 150 mark. Jordan and Rob make for 13 in the 100 games-played club. Dom takes the goalie star point lead from Seamus, 155-145 (Alex is at 135).

On the All-Time Front: Stefan needs 16 points for 1,400 and is within 100 of Lorne for the first time since May 2000. Bernie needs 15 for 1,200. Tony becomes the 21st player to score 300 points and is 13 points behind his DecaSession nemesis, Joe Chwachka, for 20th. Right behind Tony, Jordan and Rob are battling for 22nd (291-288). Sam ties Shem for 24th. Pat passes Graeme to enter the top ten in goals and needs five for 400. Jordan passes Ryan for 19th in assists. Stefan is 18 shots on goal behind Oliver for second. Pat passes Joe for second and Jordan falls behind Dylan to sixth in shooting percentage. Big milestones for Dom as he not only passes Seamus for seventh in saves but now sits directly on 3,000 for his career, 34 behind Joern for sixth. Bernie joins Oliver as the only members of the 1000-game club; Pat enters the top 20. Dom passes Justin for sixth in games goaltended. Pat passes Shem for twelfth in total star points. Pat has three straight 15-pointers. Pat ties Lee for third in 15-goal sessions with 14; Tony registers his first ever. Pat retakes the lead in 20-goal sessions from Kyle, 9-8. Tony posts his fifth 20-pointer; Marcus his first. Pat becomes the third player with 15 25-pointers. Dom becomes the seventh goalie with 20 80-savers. He also ties Laird four fourth in 90-savers with 17, becomes the third goalie with ten 110-savers, and ties Nathan for the lead in 120-savers with nine (he already holds the 130-saver lead at eight). Alex now has five 120-savers of his own. For the fourth time in his long career, Bernie plays in 20 consecutive sessions. Dom’s streak goes to 13; Alex and Marcus are both at nine. Dom becomes the first goaltender to make 2,000 saves in a single season (and it’s June!). He also sets a new record for most games goaltended in one year with 145, breaking Bron’s record of 138 games set last year. His 155 goalie star points rank second all time; Alex’s 135 rank fifth.

SDF/GDF: This augments the existing ranking; nothing much happens except for Sam only rising three spots rather than five, meaning Marcus and K.J. each gain an extra position on what already have this week. Pat and Seamus both have bigger leads on their respective charts.

Just two weeks until Burton Hockey makes a special appearance at one of BC’s premier resort towns, and just three weeks until your humble statistician comes back to VRH. Until next time, check out the Records and Honours pages in the Links section.

Also, to note a funny thing with the 'Redemption' thing was that every time the other team wanted redemption they never got it, until the very final game when finally they had their redemption. How does the saying go, whoever laughs last, laughs the longest...

Oh ya, shit, totally forgot that I was gonna break it that session. Probably the most significant milestone I'll ever hit... unless I make it 2000!

Indeed! The next 50 days or so are going to see every single-season record of volume get obliterated. Dom and Alex are just rocks in net. I am definitely excited to head down there next month. And Bernie's at 1000 games! We're not going to see anyone hit that for another year!

Congrats to bernie for hitting 1000 games! Thats a remarkable feat, much more so than 1000 points. And congrats to Dom for breaking almost every single season goalie volume record in history by June! Well done.
