What just a day prior looked like a session with only one goalie and 5 skaters turned out to be one of our largest sessions in some time, due in part to ‘Lammer’ deciding to fight through the pain of a hurt wrist and manning the pipes for us once again. Add a few maybe's showing up and a surprise appearance by Ian and Beener “Rocco 'Gooch' Gretzmaldi” Garcia and we'd have a full complement.

The first teams of the day pitted Bernie-Eric-Ian-Marcus-Dom(G) versus Tony-Beener-Ollie-Rob-Sam(G). Despite Team Sam totally outplaying their competition and firing 45 shots on goal, Dom absolutely stood on his head and earned his team the 5-4 victory. Having Marcus for a full game helped Team Dom even out the play during the next game and resulted in them breezing to a 5-2 victory. Having tasted bitter defeat twice, Team Sam was in no mood for an attempt at further redemption and the sticks were thrown once again.

This time Eric-Andy-Tony-Beener-Sam(G) would take on the five man team of Ian-Bernie-Marcus-Ollie-Rob-Dom(G). Team Dom would capitalize on many of their chances in the first game and squeak through to a 5-4 victory. However, Team Sam would get redemption on a strong goaltending effort and balanced scoring. The series rubber match would see Team Dom get outplayed significantly which would also show on the scoreboard.

Now at this point, we'd normally hear of Team Dom wanting one last shot at redemption but this would not necessarily be the case. The fact that a number of players (and a goalie) had to leave very soon resulted in another immediate game with the same teams (there simply wasn't time to make new teams). So despite Team Dom not necessarily wanting redemption, in the end redemption they would have, defeating Team Sam in a stunning and drawn out sudden-death OT game.

A great session today despite the heat wearing everyone down a little. Scoring was quite balanced with no absolutely amazing standout performance like we saw from Rocco Gretzmaldi last week. Look for more hockey as the summer weather continues in the Lower Mainland.

Danke, Bern. Today’s session was indeed quite balanced, with the top four scorers all within in two points of each other. Tony’s 11G on 50 shots helped him take the day with 16 points, edging out Marcus by one. Despite missing the first two games, Andrew came all the way back to tie Eric for third at 14. In goal, it was another all-star performance from the Animation of Domination, as Dom threw up 128 saves in six games en route to .842, beating out Sam’s .770.

Game Scores:
Bernie Eric Ian Marcus Dom def. Tony Vincent Oliver Rob Dam 5-4 5-2
Eric Andrew Tony Vincent Sam vs. Ian Bernie Marcus Oliver Rob Dom 4-5 5-2 5-3 4-5

SDF/GDF: While the top five positions on the SDF don’t change, things are certainly more interesting, as Kyle and K.J. come back down a bit to the rising VRH threesome behind them (Andy, Marcus and Tony), with all of them over a 110 rating. Vaulting up 14 spots to sixth is Terryn. All of this drops Rob from the top ten... On the GDF, a bad session for Ryan moves Dom ahead of him into second, but it’s still a long way to Alex.
