Hockey was played on this day and it was good.

A bunch of late cancellations meant we started with some good ol' 2-on-2 action. The brothers Hajdu and the elusive Blueberry took on the brothers Voser with Smart. Very long and tight game that went to sudden death before Team Voser ended it. Ryno and VRH newcomer Ron Richards showed up so we could play a more classical 3-on-3 game. Sticks in the middle ended up with Ryno and the Hajdus with Dom in net against Team Blueberry with Darrel, Andrew and rookie Ron Richards. So much alliteration. A very good series ensued. Team Blueberry dominated the first game of this series led by the enthusiasm and hard work of Ron and won the first game 5-2. Ryno was displeased by this immensely as I'm sure he did not want his buddy showing him up in his inaugural session. Ryno led his team with a 5-point effort and Dom stood tall in nets for a shutout in the second game of this series. This, of course, meant rubber match. Sticks were flying, bodies were dropping and an inordinate amount of slapshots were taken. It was all quite bizarre. It was close the entire game before a seeing-eye wrister from Smart found the back of the net and sealed the game and series for the Blueberries.

A good day of hockey indeed and I like chinchillas.

Thanks, Andrew! Were it not for the shutout, Andrew would have been very close to pointing out; instead he has to ‘settle’ for a mere 3.50 PPG with 7G-7A to lead the day by two points from Rob, who led the session in assists with nine. Tony came in third star with 7G-4A. In net, it was a closely-fought battle that came down to just .004 as Dom edged archrival Alex .839-.835 in save percentage despite Alex making eight more saves (81-73). Dom racked up an all-important shutout as well.
